Hey Guys,

Anybody have a lot of experience with bow mount trolling motors. Every now and then, i will move my foot pedal and the motor wont turn. So, i open up the head and i can see that the 2 gears no longer mesh. It looks like the one above the shaft is falling down 1/4 inch. I then pop off the two gears, realign, and we are good to go for another few months. But it seems that tension is the only thing holding the 2 gears on plane. I cant figure out what is loose or broken that is letting the gears become un-meshed.

Anybody come across this?

Its a 74 thrust minn kota from about 2004 if that helps at all.

thanks, Rob

Not sure how the cog falls down, what I remember is that it can come up and off the shaft. There should be a cable tension screw underneath the foot pedal where the cable comes in. Snug that up a bit and you should be good to go.

yeah, i keep that nice and snug. Trying to figure out what keeps the cog that is in line with the shaft from falling down.
