Location: Palm Coast, FL | Thought this was very neat to share. My sister sent these pictures and message:
Hey Bro,
Doug and I were at Cabelas in Pennsylvania last weekend and were checking out the large fish tanks they have. In one of the tanks were literally hundreds of baby muskys. I immediately thought of you and snapped the attached pictures. Inside the tank was a large net full of bait fish. Most of the baby muskys were congregating around these bait fish just waiting for the dinner bell to be rung. It was really interesting to watch them and see just how intense their prey drive is. Even though they couldn't get to their dinner just yet, it didn't stop them from trying to attack them at just about any movement. Enjoy the pictures...wish you could have been there to see them yourself!!
Love, Sis

| It was in Hamburg Pennsylvania...
The pictures just do not do it justice. There were so many - had to have been hundreds in that tank, if not a few thousand. Most of which were trying their best to break through the net to get to the bait fish. I sure would have liked to have been there when they rang the dinner bell...now THAT would have been a sight!

Location: Collegeville Pa | Hi all,
A little more info on this project / cooperative at the Hamburg Cabela’s store.
MI50 Club President Jeremy Kern visited the Cabela’s store earlier this year and after much discussion and negotiation, was able to secure 1 of the 3 aquariums as a hatchery for raising pure bred muskies from fingerling size to hopefully yearling sized fish(12-18”). The MI50 club, with the help of the PA Fish and Boat Commission has developed a really strong pure bred musky population in a local lake, March Creek, that previously contained only Tiger Muskies. In 2005 the club purchased 550 14-18” fingerlings from WI. The following year, 700 same sized fish were purchased also from WI. VHS halted the program for a couple of years, although the lake was stocked with PA raised fish. Last fall, we stocked 300 18-20” Leech Lakers from MN.
The results have been fantastic. We are now seeing fish in the 41” to 43” range. The Leech Lakers have been caught in the mid to upper 20” range. To put it in perspective, for the last 2 club tournaments, 24 fish have been registered, and 22 have been pure bred muskies. Considering the state stocks 2500+ Tigers each year, this is proof, at least to the members of MI50, that the lake is much better suited to pure bred muskies versus Tiger muskies.
The fish currently in Cabela’s, approximately 1500 or so in numbers, will be stocked at both Marsh Creek and some additional waters we have received approval for. While not everyone is happy (bass/panfish guys in particular), the lake is now drawing anglers from all over eastern PA and New Jersey.
I was actually at the store today and the tank had 2 rows of people looking at the fish. Of course it helped that they had just dumped in a bunch of minnows!! People were fascinated by the fish and the feeding frenzy! Of course it also helps that there is a 47” in the tank across the hall so people can see the before and hopefully, after!
We have other pics and info on our website – www.mi50.com if anybody is interested.
Thanks
Greg Ridge – MI50 Club Treasurer.

| Are those fish in a tank of their own or a divided section from a larger tank shared with other fish? |

| It's a separate 10,000 gallon tank. There are a few sunnys, small catfish, and goldfish too. The filtration system is amazing, anyone into fish tanks would be impressed. Greg said it right, everyone loves the musky tank! |

| hey y'all the muskies inc people told me about this thread so i thought i'd check it out. very cool to read. i actually work for cabela's so i see them 5 days a week lol... awesome to watch them grow and i've actually fed them a few times myself. love all the interest y'all should stop in and check them out (they're about 8-10" now). one last thing, muskies like any predator WILL eat each other i've seen them do it, however if there is ample food they prefer the minows
great pics by the way don't forget the rest of the "kids". we have a 46 lb flat head catfish along a 37 pounder, a 20 lb largemouth bass among other cool fish. my personal favorite is our red tail catfish, she's about 2 1/2 feet and i'd guess 25+ lbs (no one has weighed her to my knowledge)... anyways have a happy and if you can stop on in! |

| I have a bunch of pics of them and the big musky in the shared tank. It really is neat. There is a largemouth in that shared tank that is just flat out ridiculous. I'll see if I can get some pics up. |
