I have a 150 HP Merc, carb probably around a 1993 or so. Any reason not to troll with it for a couple of days? Will be trolling with it and the running spot to spot, not just 8 straight hours of trolling. Other than sucking down alot of gas, what do you think?
Thanks

It'll be fine for a little use, but make sure you run it good in between spots, that'll help clean the carbon buildup out.

I wouldn't do it a lot, but every so often you'll be ok. Otherwise you'll have problems pretty quick if you troll a lot.

To piggy back on that, you can reduce the amount of carbon build-up if you are using a good synthetic TCW-3 oil. That should help with the potential of fouling the plugs which can happen with 2-stroke engines.

You might also want to check your owners manual as well... they might recommend a different plug for the application which could help as well.

Either way, TJ's right, though... as long as you run the motor open for a bit, the carbon will be burned out for the most part.
