Starting Over...NOW

Due to the recent rash of B.S. flying on the boards in the form of bashing etc., now might be a good time to take a step back + regroup. I flew off the handle this afternoon + challenged an individual to e-mail me that had previously posted as an anon. Much to my surprise, he replied and we came to terms w/ various aspects of topics recently posted, one of them being the one about "bait slinging". This individual had posted + only became irate when he was accosted about his view on the subject...from there everything went downhill. The post actually gave good advice as far as the consequences of actually hooking someone, + how the attitude of peeps could have a negative effect on the Lake Owners Groups; we don't have any close by here but I have an idea of what they are. A number of peeps tore into his post, causing the expected backlash. Found out that this individual was indeed a vet, + also a retired judge. I have personally apologized to him + we now have an understanding + he has my respect, especially since I realize how the whole thing started.
I said all that to say this...from now on let's try to speak + act in a reasonable way, both here + while out fishing...I include MYSELF when I say this; I'm as guilty as the next guy. It takes some work, but pays big dividends in the long run..... [::)]

Sponge, when I first came on these boards, I ruffled a few feathers and challenged a few others views. I finally learned that everybody shares my passion and conservation of this fine sport. We all may have differing opinions but none of us are hear to leave it in worse condition. Our opinions may differ but we all basically want the same thing. More and bigger fish and more places to fish for them. It's ok to disagree and debate it, just do so respectfully.[:)]

I'll be the second to say...sorry. We did get carried away, but I still don't agree with not posting your name. What's the big deal. later,

Sponger,
I agree. Everyone needs to speak as though they are talking to a friend, because in most cases we are. I am as guilty as anyone displaying occasional irritation, usually after several attempts to level things out.

The BIG PICTURE usually shows there are no real problems, just a group of people in a pretty small room with differing opinions (people!!); the Message Board. Bound to be squabbles now and again. All I ask is that when someone calls another angler out on an issue or attacks directly they do so out in the open, or by personal email. That would solve most problems, and is all anybody really wants, by the comments so far!!

I was not part of the original discussion, know nothing about lake associations on Minnetonka, and would really like to have this guy ease up on me ( you gotta admit, he has worked me over pretty good about deleting the posts that were directly offensive). You called him out, got a personal reaction, and the two of you were able to mend the fence. That is what EMAILS or telephones are for!! My email is in my profile, but his was not offered. If there is going to be a fight, let's make it fair, or argue off the public record.

In short, sir, you are correct!!![8)] [] [] [] [] []

You are a true class act Sponger....M1st is a much better and fun place because of you...[:)] [:)] [;)]

Hopefully our Anon friend will in time feel more comfortable with the board. Personal attacks will not be allowed nor should they. I don't remember the post he refers to, hopefully he will give this board another chance.

Fair enough Mr. Worrall.

You must understand that my line of work usually had a major impact on individuals and their sleeping (locations) and habits...

MuskieFirst, and all members, have my sincere apology for "My bunch of Sissies" branding. That will end here, foreever more.

My email is [email protected]

Change for the better is indeed a good thing.

Reminds me of day 11 on Okinawa... I had 45 days worth...

Excellent post Sponge:
If we all keep those thoughts in mind and act accordingly, we will certainly have better communication and less turmoil. Very happy to see M1st has OkinawaKid as a member. His insight to several responses a while back were, to say the least, thought provoking.
