I put a new Terrova on my 618VS this Spring. The previous owner must have had one mounted in the past as the hole pattern was already drilled in the bow. The frame extends 4-5" past the right side of the bow. Problem is that at certain landings the bow drops straight down when launching the boat and the Terrova frame strikes the Rangertrail bow roller. Would a quick-release bracket solve this problem or does the bracket stick out as far as the TM? Looking for an alternative to re-drilling the mounting holes in the boat.
Thanks
John Ross

with the quick release mount you could slide the motor back or take it off completely, problem solved.when in place it will still stick out over the bow, that's the nature of the beast.

I had a 618 back in 2004 with a Maxium on it and it did the same thing. I believe it is in the setup of the trailer and the type of landing. Shallower launch showed no problem.

I have the same problem with my Terrova. Just have to gently lift and shift it over a little. Minor pain considering I love the boat and the Terrova. I have a 618vs also.

I have a 620 hull and a Terrova and you have to find the sweet spot on the trailer in the water so that it slides off instead of falling off. Try not backing so far. Just a foot or two will make a world of difference in how your boat exits the trailer. Like Chris said, shallower is better as it helps keeps the angle of the trailer closer to the angle of the boat. I also have to turn my Terrova head so that the prop is facing backwards because mine catchs the winch and snaps props if I don't turn it over.

Had a 618 once and had the same issue. Shallower into the launch with the trailer solved the issue.

To answer your question about the quick release bracket, They make a couple different ones for Minn Kotas. The one I had for a Power Drive Auto Pilot WAS the type that did not stick out over the edge of the boat. I had two settings for the motor position. One retracted - like what you need for your issue...and one for in-water operation. I just slid it back when there is a steep ramp. Like the others stated above, for shallower ramps, it did not need to be retracted.

yep, trailering shallower is the key with my 690.. i take the safety chain off and give a foot or two slack on the strap before i back down, then let her slide off the trailer nice and slow until the strap catches. also good insurance against dropping the boat on the ramp when things start to freeze.
