| Because 65-80 pound test is to light. Nothing less than 100 pd for big heavy gliders. |

How do you suggest someone keep their thumb on the spool while holding the forgrip during the retrieve? |

I think he's just suggesting the best fishing practice. You do what you want. But I just replaced an A/R bearing last week that was completely shredded. Now I am trying to be much more aware when ripping baits. |

| I use a 51HS with 80lb invisabraid and throw some very large gliders on it and never had a problem. May want to look at a high speed curado as well. Good luck. |

| When fishing jerkbaits like gliders i dont thumb the spool, but when twitching and ripping i always do. |

| Will these reels (toro 60hs/curado 300ej) hold up to heavy rubber aswell? I want to add an exclusive jerkbait rod to my line-up and want to know how these reels stack up against heavy jerkbaits and possibly big rubber? I would be coupling the reel with a TI rod in the XH-XXH range...... thanks for any input. |

Location: Iowa Great Lakes | I have ran my oldest Toro 60 5:4 for dawgs for the first 2 years, just sent it to blade duty a few months ago for a calcutta for rubber, only problem was a month or so ago had to replace a clutch spring or something other than that had been flawless.. The HS for me anyway is to fast of retrieve for rubber. |

| I was kindof pretainging to the durability of casting with heavy jerkabaits and possibly some rubber. Personally i think a guy could adjust his retrieve to utilize the reel for rubber. To each his own i understand, but was testing the waters as what some guys thought about low profile reels and their durability...... |

If U must hold your rod with the forgrip, I bet your hand is toast at the end of a day gripping the forgrip, plus U won't be able to polish your dolphin later that night if your hand is to sore. U better be using a reel that has a Pawl for the Anti Rev Bearing. I palm my reel and my hand thanks me for that. To each there own. |
