Unless the lure design counts on it to prevent fouling the tail prop (ex topraider), I would advise against it. Tends to be more trouble than it is worth when it comes to storing the lure in tubes.

i just use a propane torch. Same as what you would use to sweat copper pipes. Just a few touch's shrinks it without buring. But a lighter works too. Just kind of wave it underneath.
