| What does everyone consider a successful day muskie fishing?
I have been thinking on the subject, and decided the only thing that really matters is FOLLOWS!
THINK ABOUT IT!
When you catch a fish, you just get it to make some instantaneous decision to attack. When you get a fish to follow, it has to expend so much more energy to track that lure all the way into the boat. Plus, you don't have to mess with the hassle of unhooking the fish, touching the thing (gross!), and everything that goes with it. My favorite follows are the ones where the fish goes into the figure 8, but I always make sure to pull the lure away if I think the fish might strike.
My best follow is a solid 52.75" x 24.5" B-E-A-UTY! Got a replica of her and everything!

For me: Seeing/catching fish off a new spot is a really big one. Even without a fish on it, founding a new spot really gets the excitement up, and makes it hard to want to work on Monday. Spend all week thinking about getting back to it, how to work it, etc etc.
I also really love getting people a good fish (of any kind), their first of a species, their first on a particular bait/technique or their first on a particular section of water. I will never stop getting 3x as much fun out of seeing someone in my boat catch a fish I do. My wife started off this spring with three pike in the 40" range, all casting. Last wknd she landed a smallmouth over four pounds jigging in deep water right at dusk. if I can net a good fish for someone in my boat while I'm running it, that's really nice. I'm happy that I handled the boat well enough and picked a good enough spot for it it happen, and double as happy that they're happy, total team mentality.
I detest fishing alone for muskies, guess my idea of a successful day is someone enthusiastic, appreciative all day.

Location: oswego, il | Probably my best day on the water was when a large full grown shad befriended my kickin minnow. I just think of how great it was that I worked the bait so well that a fish did not seek the bait for a meal but for companionship. It was pretty dam special. They are still bff's on facebook and have a spawning date this spring. I will take the hooks off for that.

| Good day: Nobody got injured, nothing got broken or lost, and I don't hurt too bad
Great day: Nobody got injured, nothing got broken or lost, I don't hurt too bad, and there was not one point where I felt the need to swear at jet skiers, other boaters, being cut off, fouled leaders, barking dogs, backlashes, snags, stuff I forgot, missed fish, driving rain, 35 mph winds, cold fronts, high skies, ot the other people in the boat.
Successful day: A muskie in the net over 40"
That said? Some of the most fun days I've had were days where nobody caught anything. Not necessarily what I'd call "success", but if I am laughing and having a good time, it's better than anywhere else that I'd be at the time. Sure beats work!

| Spring opener water on a perfect day and waiting till a flock of seagulls are just (way) above the boat then WHISTLING so loud that every single seagull $hit$. Bet is $1 to the closest of many loads hit the boat, including people and the dog.
That's as good as it gets.

Location: Maple Grove, MN | I'm sure the term "success" varies for everyone. For me, any day that I can cast without to much shoulder pain is a good one. Some days my shoulder hurts so bad that not having to fight a big fish is almost a bonus.
My kids think any day we go fishing and get ice cream or pie is a success. For them catching fish is good, but taking a break for dessert rocks! Every ten minutes its "Daddy, when are we going to get ice cream?", "Daddy, can we get pie today?", "Daddy,...". Every...ten...minutes.
