| I picked up this bait earlier this summer - and it seems that the whole thing roles in the water on the retrieve - are you guys throwing this? and what type of leader are you using? I may just have to pick up some leaders with no swivels -

Location: MN | I throw mine on a standard stealth 150lb floro leader without issue. I have noticed you have to wait a few seconds before starting your retrieve otherwise it will spin and not plop. |

| I have two and I've had mostly problems with them. There's a "C" clip behind the prop that holds it forward on the post and if that clip falls off the prop will slide back and catch on the rear of the bait and spin the whole thing. I've had to replace that clip a few times.
Also, mine likes to dive. Either fast or slow and with various leaders, it'll ride on top for a few feet and then dive and may or may not come back up. I'm sticking with my Pacemaker.
I love Larry and I think his baits are awesome as he makes them. Just not a fan of them off the assembly line. These opinions are in no way bashing Larry or his baits. They are just my first hand observations. |

Location: Ontario | I casted a buddy's a month or so ago. A quiet bait, and it did want to dive a bit. (Small stock hooks on it too, but 99% of muskie lures come like this.) Designed to be like a TopRaider-style lure and nowhere near IMO.
For beefed up versions that are actual improvements on the proven lure styles, Lee Lures and BS Willy are two good brands to check out. Other than the TopRaider and jointed Beleiver, I still haven't had any mojo on plastic surface baits. Wooden Pacemakers, Thunderheads, globe-styles, creeper-styles and walk-the dogs all seem to be my best. Other than Sledges, all my jerkbaits that catch fish are wood too.
With the WhopperPlopper, its funny how sometimes you put on a new bait and can't get it back off your line fast enough OR, how once its on, you don't want to put it down. The Plopper didn't last more than a dozen casts before the Pacemaker went back onto the leader. (When I first tried wood Pacemakers it went on the line and has been there for four years lol) |

| Mine seems to be running fine. It feels a little heavier than a Top Raider (I could be wrong about that) and when it hits the water on a long cast you usually have to pause briefly to allow the bait to float back to the surface before you can begin your retrieve. Good loud popping sound.
I did notice some line twist this morning when I was putting my rods in my truck. Could have been from the WP, but not 100% sure. I'll be throwing it this weekend so I'll keep an eye out for rolling. |

Location: Gilberts IL/Rhinelander WI | I throw mine on a Stealth #130 fluoro leader and have also had great success in northern WI. It seems to work fine and I have not noticed any line twist. It also seems to be the loudest prop bait I have used, throwing much more water than a topraider as well. |

Get a little of the that two part epoxy and smear it over the crack OR email the company and see if they will exchange it for you. |

| There crackin fish here on lotw. Mines been abused but have had others complain about the c clip. It does need to be addresed |

| No problems so far.... It does need a few seconds before starting and sometimes still starts very hard, but it has an awesome plop and works great at fast speeds.

Location: Lake of the Woods, Morson, Ontario | Plenty of action on my first one. Great bait for the beginners, except when it lands on the rocks too many times...ended up cracked and taking on water, biut that wasn't the bait's fault.
I actually found you could run it at a higher speed than many other topwater baits without it rolling, which was one of the things I really liked about it. Nice to be able to crank the speed up a notch if you have a hot fish coming in on it.
I picked up another one and will continue to give it time. I thought it sounded good and threw a lot of water. |

| I have no problems at all with mine, Runs true ,throws water and is loud.
Allthough I do have to give it a hard fast yank every now and then to get it spinning, I use solid wire leaders with it . |

| I really like mine, it rides the waves nice and sounds great. I've had fish up on it but nothing eat it until I got this 49.5" last Friday. Sure does call in the big fish.

| Hey Guys.....I had some difficulty with my first Whopper Plopper and contacted River2sea (510) 237-2405 and got immediate satisfaction...they replaced my lure no problem. So ...it would be my suggestion...that if you have a problem contact or email River2sea at the address below. Now realize that some damage while fishing for the toothy ones is inevitable....but if it's defective out of the box......contact the factory. Was impressed with the customer service..and fast response. Now I just have to get that 50 incher this season...maybe at Lake of the Woods!

| The 5"size of the Whopper Plopper is yet to be releasd......I think they will be released by Nov. 1 2011. Only trials have been Pro Staff and employees...and a few lucky writers. The colors are pretty good looking though...check the River2sea USA website...they show them all. Plenty of Musky and Pike colors...as well as colors for the smallies! |

| Just was on the River2sea USA Facebook page...they have a 7lb smallie falling to the big Plopper....along with a 120lb wells catfish...that slurped it up o the surface! Try that one on for style. |

| Mine just flat out won't work! It just rolls and won't spin! I don't care for it or the Glide bait they sell! VERY DISAPPOINTED BY BOTH!

| I ran into the same issue with the lure having a hairline crack on the bottom and taking on water, I went ahead and contacted them by e-mail, hopefully they will be able to assist me like they have for others, I will update this thread once I hear from them! |

Location: Ludington, MI | The ones that roll over are usually missing a c-clip or e-clip like you have on the axle of a compound bow. You can buy them at the hardware store for pennies. Send it here if you still don't like it. |

| Nice catch. Was that caught on a plopper? Think I recognize the PA lake from your picture. Was that caught in PA? Been throwing whopper ploppers off and on for two years and havent moved a fish n one. Your fish may renew my efforts to keep throwing it. |

| For anyone who has had trouble with the Whopper Plopper I would recommend contacting them, excellent customer service and they are definitely willing to honor their product if it was an issue with how it was manufactured! |
