Believe it or not, you could smell the smoke this morning in North/Central Wisconsin. (I'm in Antigo)

Smelled it as soon as I got up this morning and wondered what was burning. The AM news said it was smoke from the boundary waters forest fires in MN.

Just saw the "Minnesota Stinks" thread - same topic.

On the news tonight they said after school sporting events in eastern WI were canceled due to air quality issues. I know at lunch time it smelled really bad. Winds and atmospherics must have been just right.

Our cabin is just South and West of where the fire is...I guess it was within about 20-30 miles of us...... Hoping the wind dies down and doesn't decide to come out of the east. They are closing forest roads and BWCA entry points all along Hwy 1.. Its pretty crazy. I hope they get it under control.

The cloud invaded Chi-town last evening too----NASTY!! Hope they can get it under control soon. Lightning caused quite a few fires up North this year. I heard of an island on Whitefish Bay that was burning during the Canadian Musky opener week. Mother Nature needs to chill out.-----Be safe------Pat

Haven't any of you been to Canada this Summer? Dozens of fires running wild all Summer because it's been so dry. Fires in July are still burning when I was just up there last week. The sun was orange one day last week because there was so much smoke.

Some of the fires in Canada won't be out until the snow covers them. The smoke from the fire in the BWCA can be seen from Lake vermilion, so far no east winds so no smoke.
