Wow, woke up this AM to a nasty burn smell coming in through the windows. Yeck, what the heck is that? Listened to the news for a bit, and it's the smoke from the Pagami Creek forest fire in NE MN carried throughout northern WI on the NW winds. Heard Rhinelander has only 1 mile visibility and some ash is falling throughout NW WI. Hope the fire is controlled and not too much of the forest is burned.

Fire is within a wilderness area, BWCAW, and since the fire was started by nauture, lightning, they will continue to let it burn and try and keep it within the wilderness boundaries. Fire will not be delcared out until there is substantial snow on the ground. You probably won't see another ash cloud east of Lk Superior unless the wind is really strong and in a NW direction. We need rain bad over here.

I thought it had something to do with the arrival of the Vikings at the airport but the wind direction isn't quite right for that.

Thought my neighbors house was on fire or something here in Sullivan, WI. More of a chemical smell here rather than leaves burning.......phew.

Was on vermillion in august and all of a sudden this smokey hazy sky came in. Was odd to see and it was from that fire.

Hey, the Twins, T-Wolves and Wild also stink. And don't forget the turkey farms. Nothing smells worse than a turkey farm and we have a lot of those in MN. We have high taxes too. Keeps the riff-raff out.

Driving up to Cross Lake this morning and could see the smoke which looked exactly like clouds at first just north of Princeton. Amazing how far south it was visible.

You can smell it in Barrie, ON (which is less than an hour North of Toronto, which is in Canada). They've been talking about the smoke drifting up on the radio the last couple days.

They said the fire started a month ago by a lightning strike. Only recently with the extremely dry conditions and super low dewpoints with lots of wind did it take off.
100,000 acres so far. It was only like 16,000 on Sunday.

I have heard reports of people smelling it in Quebec... That has to be one large fire.

I work at a place in Toronto that smells like burnt wood.... So I cant smell it myself.
