Fall feeding windows...late eaters.

In the summer months I know I try to be out on the lake as early as possible so I can get more fishing time in and also catch an early bite.

In fall, I noticed all of my fish come at later hours around 1:00pm and the bite continues till about 5pm.

How many of you guys go out purposely later in the day to catch the later bite.

Also how many of you guys agree with me from experience that in the cooler temps the fish seem to have a late bite?

Yesterday we didn't see a fish till about 1:00pm then we had the second in the boat at 2:05pm.
Just wondering

Phil:
I think you are right. Middle of the day or later is often the best time in the fall. Could be because of the chance to warm the water a bit. Light penetration being lower and less invasive into the water column. who knows?

Last week I had action for 45 minutes in the morning. 15 before dawn to 30 after. Then a 50" blow up at 4:00pm Tues. and Thur. Fish and lure out of water with no hook up.@#!%$#&. Late AFTERNOON seems to be the key this week for me.Waters still pretty warm for this time of year, but, the daylight is dictating behavior. Bloody good eh Pip[] [:sun:] []

Actually, I notice the opposite. The more boat traffic and fishing pressure, the better the morning bite, even in very late fall. One lake I goto, sunup is the best time with water temps in the 40's. I notice this with other lakes with the same pressure.

I agree with Todd totally on the lakes with pressure, especially on warmer weekends, seems mornings can be outstanding. Overall though, I do best around 9 or 10 in the morning then again around 4 or 5. Seems it is good when the sun first starts to warm things(this being relative as maybe the warming part of the day is only 40 degrees but is still the good time). I also find another window quite frequently when the day is still at its warmest, but just at the time when it thinks about cooling, but the sun is still there. Its hard to explain, but after turnover and we get a couple weeks of stable steady cooling, things can get predictable. The past couple years have sucked for that!!
