hey guys im kinda new to muskie fishing but i have landed many fish. i am just having trouble on techniques, structure, and speed for certain times in the year. what lures and structure should i be generally looking for this time of year? i have a calcutta 400TE and a heavy action st croix premier rod and have a variety of lures im just not sure what would be useful at this time of year. any help would be appriciated, thanks

You're gonna need to offer some more specifics. What kinda water are you fishing?

the water is slightly stained green, many islands and weedbeds.

I would suggest getting a copy of Muskies on the Shield by Dick Pearson for "Where to Fish" questions. Has a lot of detailed information on what kinds of structure holds fish. (The book, not the DVD which is a nice DVD but does not go into the detail you will get out of the book).

And the Complete Guide to Musky Hunting by Saric/Heiting for lure selection, lure progression, and how to use them.

I am also pretty new at this having only chased muskies a couple seasons and I found both of these books very helpful. If I could only pick one it would be Pearson's book.

8'6" heavy action is a great everything kinda size and weight
