| I was looking at some posts of people putting up fish and others saying its not that big or it doesnt weigh that much... I'm just curious to see what happens here, How big do you think this fish is?
it wont let me attach a picture for some reason so we will play this game some other time. Or someone else put up pic and then we can guess at that.

|
|
| I'd guess 43.
Tip- Fish pics taken from above always look smaller. But even taking that into account, I'm with Jerry and I say 42/43. |

Location: Pelican Rapids, MN | Taking into account you're just a little fella, I had to guess low to mid forties on a bump board. Of course you could have measured it with a net handle or a tape measurer and she'd measure... well, skies the limit!
And did you catch it out of the water trap at mini golf world - That looks like the 7th hole you standing on!

| Nice fish!
But for me...the most impressive thing I see in that photo is that boat! How do you not tip over in that thing or fall out? I bet fighting a nice sized muskie in that boat is a ton of fun! Looks like if you lost your concentration for a second and you're either walking off the side or rolling it....wow....
My thin, narrow, shallow, flat-bottom john-boat days are long, gone behind me after my brother and I flipped one in a Wisconsin lake 20 years ago, losing everything that'd sink, and coming up through that see of fall/sinking lures both of us having to go to the hospital to have treble hooks removed. My brother...had a treble in a finger on his right hand, to the bone, which...that same treble hook was also snagged in his shoe lace on his left shoe! So he had to tread water with opposite hand and foot till I could get to him to pull him over to the capsized boat to hang on to till help arrived.
Take note: Have fun...but...Be careful in that boat!

| Haha no shame, it was measured on a bump board. A homemade one, actually.
And that's a casting deck that me and my buddy designed, and put that outdoor carpeting on it. When the muskie/bass aren't eating there's always time to practice the stroke! |

| 45-46". ITs definately a bigger fish as there is a lot of gap in between the pelvic and anal fins. |

Wow, that must have been a horrifying experience.
Fortunately we're both around the same size so it's still fairly tough to lose balance, but after a couple close calls we decided to ditch the deck because it added unnecessary weight.
We've had plenty of close encounters, dangerously close lol. When releasing this fish we had some water pout over the gunnel, but nothing that our trusty arizona iced tea jug/water bailer couldn't fix.
There's a reason we nicknamed that boat the "Titanic" |

| 43.5". That isn't what is important here. What is key, is he has the boat the guy 75 years ago was using when he made this famous statement, which somehow is still heard at every tavern, resort, gas station, bait shop, motel, and lunch counter, today: "She slowly cruised in, but never hit. When she swan under the boat I looked down and saw how big her tail was. Then I looked at the other side of the boat and realized I could see her head on one side and her tail on the other side of the boat." |

| Gotta be careful with modifying boats like that with home-made decks. Sure..they make fishing out of the boat a lot nicer, but...in turn, those decks raise the boat's center of gravity. Keep it safe...no fish is worth loosing life and limb for...no matter the fish's size...

| 49.5" I used a complex formula of the width of your fingers and extrapulated that across the entire fish. I had to guess at your finger width, using mine the fish was 67" long. Seeing that you are half the size of me, I figured the fingers would be too so reduced the calculation accordingly. LOL |

Hard to figure this length out. I looked for clues and didn't find many. I'll have to go with 49.25". I think this fish is longer than it first looks in the picture. |

| I was holding it at an awkward angle because I was quite tired, this fish came at the 7th hour of casting on the day. She bump-boarded at 47" exactly. The picture certainly doesn't do the fish justice. Thanks, and nice guesses everyone! |

Ive see this type of post several times - its simply not true - the fish has to be relaxed for there to be "tail flop" - My Nikon shoots 2.5 frames per second, i sometimes shoot 20 pics of the same fish just for the heck of it - many of the pics of even 50+ " fish show little to no tail flop when a fish is moving/ tense while you shoot.

I tend to underestimate length in Minnesota and overestimate WI fish. Don't ask me to make sense of it, I can't. I'm going with a healthy 47. |
