Jus got bake from lake vermilion, stayed @ vermilion dam lodge and fishin was interesting to say the least. Fished approx. 12 hours a day every day for a week, and it took a couple of days to locate active fish, had numerous chances at muskies but couldn't get the hooks to stick (very frustrated bout that) all the muskies we moved with the exception of the first and last ones were hangin in the weeds in 5'-10' of water. The other 2 were on rocky points. A steady diet of bucktails and top waters were workin slowly but surely. Had a giant follow to the boat on a small black buchertail @ least 55"... missed a few on top raiders as well. My question is about catchin soooo many bass while fishin for muskies. I honestly lost count by the 2nd day how many we had caught, they were bitin on all muskie lures inc. Double cowgirls. Caught many, many smaller pike as well, that's relatively normal for me, but the bass were so agressive... was I fishin the wrong water? Tried lotsa different depths, but got results in the 5-10' range. Still haven't got a 50"!!!!!

They don't grow on trees! They are called the fish of a lifetime for a reason. I know many people that have fished for years and still don't have one. On the other hand I know people that caught one in a short amount of time.

All Im saying is that you cant expect to catch one every time, every year, or every decade, but it is the dream!

Sounds like you could win a bass tournament on musky lures! think I might look for one to fish. ha ha

Vermilion is a World Class bass lake. Good action when the Muskies are being rude.
