| I emailed James a month or so and asked if he would be willing to sell me a blade for a bucktail I bought from him and I threw the blade off of it. I have wire to reshaft the bucktail so replacing the blade was not that big of a deal. His response back to me was, "Please send me your address. I do not have many blades but will send you a new lure" I don't know of to many companies that will send you a replacement for a product that YOU broke. I got the lure PLUS an additional lure that had a hand wrote note "Try this one"
With the way the economy is and businesses struggling it is these small gestures to your customers that will go a long way.
Thanks again James! |

I 110% guarantee you that bad customer service costs businesses a lot more than good customer service. Makes you wonder what some companies think when they disrespect the hard earned money their customer spend with them. I know I won't go back to companies that don't take care of me. My basic rule is, if I feel it would upset me I take care of the situation. I try to be my own worst customer at the end of the day. If I feel I am starting to be taken advantage of then I rethink the options I give out but still try to lean towards A+ customer service. Any of my retailers customers are my customers too! Hate to admit I learned a lot from Wal-Mart as an employee in the 80s but their philosophy of the customer is always right kind of stuck with me through the years...
James
Thanks again guys!

Location: Land of the Musky | Just one last note...I do of course appreciate the direct sales but my goal is to sell through my retailers. The main reason I have my website is to offer all of my color choices so if they are not carried you can still get what you need. The average retailer only picks up 10-50 baits/colors from me (Except Musky Tackle Online who has them all). So, please try to visit my retailers first. My goal someday is to only have a website showing my selections adn then links to my retailers. Unfortunately my bank tells me I need to pay my interest on time
Lots of great retailers to buy Tackle Industries products from. Here are just a few:
5 PTS. COUNTRY CONVENIENCE Store
Bass Pro (online, catalog and retail stores)
Big Wood Musky Lures
Canadian Tire
CAVE RUN MUSKY PRO SHOP
Danes Marin
Dick's Sporting Goods stores
Dutch Fork custom lures
Flambeau River Outfitters
Franglais Fishing
Jims Bait & Tackle
Michigan Muskie Shop
Musky Tackle Online
Overstock.com
R and L Bait & Tackle
Ross's Sports Shop
....
Many more to list but I think you get it. I really appreciate everything my customers do as far as feedback too. Without feedback years ago my SuperD lures would not be nearly as tough as they are today! My coil harness really made the SuperD a durable bait. Even some of my competition uses it now and good for them. I have re-designed almost all of my baits every year and will continue as long as I own Tackle Industries. Improve & innovate or die a slow business death... Thanks again!

Location: Land of the Musky | Great Big, I still want to trade you some rods for a big buck Well, I have 2 deer this year on the "shooters" list. One is a littel above 190 and the second is est about 205. Don't worry, if...NO WHEN I get one thsi year I will post a picture Got about 6-8 others in the 150-180 range and they will walk this year. Can't wait to see some of those for next year! My old muzzleloader is sighted in and ready to go!
Thanks for the comments guys! I have really tired to work on making great baits. I sold over 73,000 lures last year and will sell more than 110,000 this year. Out of those numbers any company will have a few baits slip by. When this happens its my goal to make my customers happy to have had an issue with my baits Thanks!

Location: Land of the Musky | I have tried to get Thorne Bros to carry my stuff for years. I doubt they ever will. Too bad because whenever I get a customer emailing me if Thorne Bros carries my tackle I let them know that unfortunately they do not so I send them to my other retailers who do. Many of which have lower prices, free shipping, etc. I get that email request about 1-2 times a week so 1-2 times a week I teach customers to go to other retailers... About 25% of these people email me back telling me "thanks" and that they never had a clue about some of them. I know for a fact Thorne Bros is not selling about 5 or more rods a week by not having my rods in their store. Well, I will be here if/when they ever want to work with me. My business grew by about 30% last year and I am almost even with last year right now so I won't be going anywhere for a long time. All I can say to my customers is keep asking for my tackle at your local retailers. The more they get requests for my tackle the more likely they will carry my tackle. This economy is hard right now and everyone needs to help each other IMO. I do my part by sending as many customers to my retailers as possible. It is the least I can do for my partners.
Thanks,
James

While I was always under the impression spinnerbaits are not used much by musky fishermen (when compared to dbl 10 bucktails, swimbaits and cranks...) those Switch Blades are flying out the door right now! I guess it helps when one lure is 500 different color combinations |

| I have just recently visited your website from previously being introduced to your rods, but being a diehard Thorne Bros guy (I live 3 miles away) I never realized the array of lures you make and I have read nothing but good stuff about them and love the price point. I am happy to put them to the test. Placing my order soon and unfortunately I have been known to get out of hand with the plastic in the wallet and in the tackle box.
I will gladly let Thorne Bros know what I think. They need your stuff period! If it has anything to do with vendor/retailer relationships it sounds like they are both missing out on a great vendor and a great batch of customers. I hate dealer locks and know they hurt the retailer in the end.

Location: Land of the Musky | Webstj,
Thanks! About the only way I will ever get into Thorne is if they realize they are missing sales. Please continue to ask for my tackle when you visit any retailers and let them know your money could be going to them. Last year I did a zip code search and found I sold almost $29k within 30 miles of their front door. This year with rods I will almost double that. To bad too because I do have alot of customers ask if they can get my rods at Thorne Bros as well as many other retailers... Still really not sure why they will not carry my tackle but I know they have a lot of personal relationships with others that might keep them from buying my stuff. Too bad, I agree we are both losing out by not working together. Until then, please email me and I will set you up with a retailer near you for the lures and rods you want to buy. If nobody carries your specific needs I do have all 1000+ products on my website http://www.tackleindustries.com
Thanks,
James

Location: brooklyn park mn | I also live close to thorne bros,(2miles) and not all but some guys that work there just seem to be on team musky innovations or something. I remember a year ago when I asked about when they were going to carry your line of swimbaits and the response was so biased towards musky innovations. Lol. I have been a long time musky innovations non buyer due to the highway robbery of cheaply built baits that were so marked up to last one or two outings tops. I now fish a lot of swimbaits since I found out about your lineups which are outstanding. I agree they are losing out on business. Your rods rank up there with the best of them too. I would be in thorne a lot if they carried your stuff. Its just a matter of time I think. Supply and demand. How,can they not. Lol. Thanks for making it affordable for some of us james. |
