| for northern and bass i use a SC Mojo bass split grip rod. It's pretty stout and catches both of these types of fish with ease. i think i paid like $100 for mine. Now, i mostly fish bass but i am on a small mouth lake that produces some large fish and never had a problem. |

Location: South-Central PA | I don't think you'll find a rod that's "good for almost everything." If you are willing to compromise, I think you'll be happy. For pike, you're going to want something rated up to 1oz or maybe a bit more. For bass, that's going to be a pretty heavy rod. You'll want to look for something in the MH to H range as far as power (knowing that it will prevent you from throwing some of the lighter bass lures).

Location: Land of the Musky | For an all around rod for about 80% of what you might use it for look for a rod rated for lures between 1-6oz or in that range. Most of the lures you will throw I assume are in the range. You will find some rods in that range are designated as an "M" and others are "MH". IMO use the lure ratings not the "X", "XH", "MH", etc...
