| Hey guys, i have been fishing the metro for most of the summer, and managed to pull one 30 incher out of Independence.
What types of lures do you guys use in these waters? i have fished eagle lake inennepin county several times, and haven't seen a single fish. do you have any tips? or have any lakes / spots in general to stay at. any help would be great.
i was also wondering what types of lures you personally use in the metro area and if its worth it to even fish with the water being in the 80s.
Thank you all  |

| i fish independence all the time and the one tip i can give you is do something different. i know i know it sounds super simple and generic. but i troll a ton out there and in the process i get a real good look at what everybody is doing and you would be amazed at how many people are throwing the exact same lures on the same spots from the same dirrections. switch it up. you know throw 8's instead of tens or regular dawg instead of mag dawgs. not that you cant catch fish on either but i think overall you would be more successful throwing something a little different. trying hitting the mid lake humps, for the most they are pretty much ignored. other than that just keeping pounding away the fish are there. the other thing to consider is that the water is so green out there that unless a fish is following with its nose on the bait you would never see it. you may be moving fish and not even know it. just keep plugging and it will happen |

| Thanks for the reply!
I did have a follow on that lake on my warlock. ill keep trying new things.
I'm going fishing again tomorrow, do you think i should hit independence again?
Tomorrow ill try some of my new lures, such as my Shallow invader and my white buzzbait. and my super shads. hopefully ill stir up some fish, ill let you guys know!
also , do you know any information about Eagle lake? i have heard there aren't many muskies there. which i could believe, because i haven't been moving fish.
let me know
thanks! |

Location: Anoka | The problom with eagle lake in maple grove is it has been completly pounded 5 plus years ago the lake was
as hot as any lake in the the metro and it got a ton of attention. However it is one of my favorite lakes in the metro last winter was very tough there was alot of winterkill we seen 2 floaters on easter just getting out the boat for the first time
and Im sad to say both fish were upper 40's maybe bigger that being said my friend caught a nice healthy 42 in late june but with water temps over 80 in some lakes especialy eagle its less than ideal to fish muskie in july but with this slight cool down fish will start getting active. I prefer the evening into dark on eagle you can basicly work the whole lake in 2 hours but give some extra attention to the bar that runs through the south east end off the mouth of pike lake. There is also a big hole in the north west corner look for suspended fish rubber dawgs...ect Ive done best with big willow blades slow rolling there are some nice bonus northern I have 3 over 35" on that lake so work it hard there are plenty of fish in there you just have to work for them in ideal conditions remember full moon saturday good luck !!!

| Don't be afraid to go really shallow and in the slop weeeds on Indy...the fish in that dirty water can be really up in skinny water |

| Not much pressure, but a little, I saw 5 ish boats, I'm going out again tomorrow for the full moon, I saw a guy catch a 40 + incher on a small minnow when I was leaving, didn't handle the fish very well. I was casting and twitching the bait in shallows. Came up out of the water and shook his head a few times when I hooked, seems like a lot of shallow fish there, WAY to many bucktails and cowgirls are being used there though. It seems that's all people use. Went out early on toka for some bassin and casting with a friend, was a fun day, hope to have luck tomorrow |
