Location: Ogden, Ut | Nik, Dane and I helped the fish guys stock new fingerling tigers into Pineview this morning. Extremely high water and abundant weeds should give the little buggers pretty good odds of recruitment. The boys were pretty excited to get to stock a few fish (thanks Chris and Wes), and both hoped to encounter them again at a later date.

Location: Hopefully on the water | Those little Tigers are neat to see. You mentioned high water. Do you plant them in areas of what would be normal water levels or in the higher water level ares. Just asking never seen fish stocked myself. Is the area a flooded expansion where they were planted or is the water just higher along with the weed growth being high also. I am thinking of a bowl scenario or like on Cave run in the spring when things get flooded. Just curious. |

It's an irrigation storage reservoir; so by now, the water level is usually down 15 or so feet from full pool (it normally fluctuates 30' or more each year). The area where we stocked them is usually dry by now, but this year there was still 6' of water under those plant tops - but it will drop throughout the remainder of the summer. As the water in those shallow areas warms, it will drive the new fish out into the main body of the reservoir, but by then they should put on enough size to be less of a target to predation.
