Guys,

Wondering what your preference is for landing nets and why. My net has always been a pain for allowing the fish to "roll" in the net and the hooks get tangeled and it turns into a situation. It's time to get a new one. Thanks in advance.

I have a large Stowmaster and love it. I run a 17-7 boat so space is an issue. If I had more space I would use a Big Kahuna. Some think both can be hard if fishing alone but I have landed fish solo with both and have found them to be fine. Its all about the technique...

Frabill. Take a look at the size and style options at http://www.frabill.com.

I have a Frabill net that collapses nicely to fit in my Ranger. The netting, though, was pretty bad. Big holes and the material would allow hooks to go right through it. I replaced the netting with the Beckman Finsaver netting and it works beautifully. So yah, mine is a Frankenstein net. Part Frabill, part Beckman. So is it a Framan or a Beckbill?

The stowmaster is great you really don't know it's in the boat but boy when you need it it's there a little more $ but it's the last one you will need

How is it removing hooks from the fish in the stowmaster? I have the Beckmann and when fish get into it and roll it is bad news. i am leaning towards the Frabill Big game right now because i feel like the hooks will be easier to remove from the fish when they roll in it. Thoughts??

The netting on my Stowmaster is rubber coated & haven't had any issues with removing the hooks yet.

I like the frabill powercatch, I have one and some buddies use them too and we have all had muskies in them and they work great, every now and then it would be nice to have the big kahuna but it just takes up so much more room than the powercatch does!

I bought a frabil last year and sold my beckman thinking the thicker mesh on the frabil would be a little more hook resistant.. Fish still seem to roll in it, but the hooks come out of the bag a little easier, and dont get knotted in their near as bad......so I think it was worth the switch for me..

Curious if you guys have any ideas for coating a net thats not currently coated? I have an extra frabil power lok net... the bag is not coated and I planning to pick up a new bag for the frame but want to keep the current one as a backup... just in case something happens i have a spare bag. But i would like to try to coat that bag with something to attempt to make it more hook resistent. You fellas got any ideas of something that could be applied to the current nylon (i think) bag?

I have a Frabil Powercatch and i love it, I really don't have any problems with the fish rolling up in it because the holes in the net are bigger and as long as you aren't fishing alone using one isn't difficult if you don't try to drag the bag through the water while trying to net a fish. One of my friends that I fish with regularly has a Beckman and it is a great net don't get me wrong, it gets the job done. However I can't tell you how many fish have gone into that net and next thing you know it is just a wad of net, hooks and fish.

For the life of me I can't remember the brand of my net, sitting here at work. However I love it, fish don't get beat up and don't roll and hooks don't get caught in it at all!

MuskiemanAD that appears to be some form of frabill. I would say either a powercatch or a kahuna.

Looks like a Power Catch - same net I've got. My only complaint is the bag material is so thick that sometimes the bag doesn't want to open up entirely, if you know what I mean... Otherwise the net is great and should last a very long time.
