Location: Milwaukee, WI | Wondering if anyone out there has ever had this issue or anything similar:
A little background: I bought a 2003 Crestliner Fishhawk 1750 this year. The boat was used as a patrol boat for local police, and was never fished in, to the best of my knowledge. So far, everything has worked perfectly and I am very happy with the boat.
This weekend I went out with my Dad to do some panfishing and discovered that my livewell did not work. This was my first time that I have flipped the switch since I bought the boat (in April), and it did work then. I assumed that the problem was either the pump or fuse and figured I would look at it when we took the boat out of the water.
That afternoon I had the boat parked in the driveway and went out to see if I could figure out the issue. Imagine my surprise when I walked to the back of the boat and found the pump running with the switch OFF. I flipped the switch on, then off again, and the pump shut off. 30 seconds later, it turned itself on again. I flipped the switch again, and the same thing happened. I finally got it to stop by disconnecting the battery.
I checked all connections and found nothing visibly wrong. I reconnected the battery and the pump and switch now seem to work fine. I left the battery connected for a few hours to see if it would start on its own again, but it seems ok.
Does anyone have any idea what may have caused this? |

| Was the boat ever used to retrieve a body? If so, I'd suggest a residual non-corporeal entity. |

Location: Hopefully on the water | The timer on that year and model would have been a option but good place to check if it has the recirculating livewell. Generally on that boat it would be a dial to set the recirc time. The other option is that it could be the switch is going bad on it. |

Location: Milwaukee, WI | There is a separate recirculation pump (with separate switch at the bow) which is working properly. The pump that was running mysteriously was the fill pump.
I checked and there is no timer of any sort. I am guessing it is a switch issue. |
