I always used Sampo swivels in my rigging in the past, but the price of Sampos has just gone through the roof. Now ~ $30 for a dozen 150 lb, it has gotten to the point that I simply cannot justify the price.

I have recently begun ussing the Thorne Bros BB Swivels at $10 for 10, and I have not had any problems or failures. I see Aaron has the Stealth BB swivels for 10 for $10.

Does anyone have any performance or tech data on these brands? Sampo is supposed to be "the best", but the price is just not realistic anymore.

Thanks

How many swivels do you go through? I use the best swivels I can buy on my leaders and if a leader gets kinked I cut the swivel off and use it again on a new leader I make. If you're trolling I can see having to have a bunch of swivels for multiple lines but a dozen or two should last you for quite a few years should it?

Well, at any given time I have 4 dozen casting leaders, and probably just as many for trolling when considering sliders. I have leaders on my own stuff and client rods. I also sell leaders to freinds. I probably go through 200 swivels a season.

Hello,

last year I have the same problem. Sampos are very good but the price is a horror. I tested many swivels around the world. The best swivels for the best price which I have found came from here

I do not know if my swivels are the same as in the actual offer. My swivels are bright silver and not black.

Tight lines, Dietmar

I typically user Owner or SPRO's but the price point is not much better than Sampo's. Ordering directly from Owner can save you save you some $$..

Chasin50,

That would be $500 per season on Sampo swivels. I can understand why you might want to find an alternative!

Maybe the manufacturer would sell them directly to you ... and then you could sell me a couple of dozen every year.
