I am looking into purchasing a boat soon. I currently have an Alumacraft Tournament Pro 175. I would like a boat that isn't as deep, and is lower to the water. I fish mostly northern wisconsin lakes and take a couple trips a year to bigger bodies of water in northern MN. Does the Tuffy 1760 sit lower to the water than my Alumacraft? I have never fished out of a 1760. Also, how does the 1760 compare to the 1700? Thanks

You got a 26 inch deep cockpit in the Tuffy so I'd say that freeboard's gonna be higher than the Alumacraft.

If you get the GT it is considerably lower profile. I can reach the water for a figure 8 with a 6' rod from the front deck of a 1760 with no issues.

The two hulls are completely different. The 1700 is a great ride and will handle rough water really well, but the 1760 is better. It's also wider and longer, offering more cockpit and deck space. The 1700 rates at 135 max, the 1760 at 150. Feel free to cal me anytime at 800.359.4416 if you have questions.

I own a 2002 1700, and am very happy with it, BUT after fishing out of a 1760 GC a couple times, it is a lot more boat than a 1700. My 1700 will fish 3 people, but the 1760GC fishes 3 people much better than my 1700. So much better in fact, a 1760 GC will probably be my next boat.

I have a 1700, fishes big water and little ponds equally well. No problems with the height for figure-8's or handling fish.

I have a 2008 1760GC and love it!! Put a 140 Suzi on the back and no kicker,, 42 MPH top end. 1.8MPH low end with no shake or vib. Will plain out quickly.Mostly fish Skis but also Walleyes and panfish- good for all three. Not much of a big family boat, not a fish and Ski type thing unless there Muss-Ski's..It will handle big water very well. I had a 1700GT and traded up to this boat and happy I did..
