Location: West Chicago, IL | I have taken my nephews trolling for muskies a couple of times over the past few years and we have caught fish up to 39". I figured this year it was time to take them casting. We did a short 2.5 day trip in Minnesota. My 13 year old nephew caught a 47.5" on a spinnerbait and a 54" on a creeper. The strike on the creeper was awesome and somehow he landed the beast. No where to go but down for him.........

Location: Hayward, WI | Wow! Not fair at all, but awesome all at the same time! Great job putting him on those fish and big congrats to your nephew too. I bet he can't stop talking about it. It is possible for him to go up from there, but it will probably take some real effort!
Great post.

| I'm also very proud of him for holding that 47.5" by himself......it was a heavy fish! Watching him run all over the boat fighting the 54 was a sight I will never forget!! It's the second longest fish I've ever been in the boat for so it was awesome to be a part of the experience. He's hooked for life now! Now I need to start working on getting his younger brother a nice fish!!!! |

Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | WoW! Very nice indeed! Great fish, even greater Uncle. I'll bet you're on his Christmas present & favorite Uncle list. Nothing more awesome than watching kid's catch big fish. Would have loved to hear the boat talk. Hope the rest of 2011 is just as productive for you. Great job! Is he getting a replica for Xmas?
I'm game if you want a 63YO new nephew! LOL
Have fun!

Location: Medford, WI | Absolutely defines the word addicted! Can't imagine what those two fish would have done to me at that age. Congrats to you and your nephews - it's always a team game with musky fishing!
Also, just wanted to ask about the split tail on the 54"...is it really split all the way to the base of the tail???

Location: West Chicago, IL | Yes, but it wasn't split in the net. It appeared like it had been that way for a long time as there was nothing that made it look unusual. It either was split a long time ago and completely healed or was genetically that way. |
