So, Steve. Now you have a bubbling spring in the yard? Pretty unusual landscaping tactic.

Have fun!

We sucked it up badly in the Wabeno area. Muskie outings on Friday night, Saturday morning, Saturday mid-day and another different lake Saturday night. After all that and only a bass, two dink pike and a couple tiny follows to show for it, we tried walleye fishing Sunday morning. Even cigar walleyes on live bait wouldn't cooperate. Great time, fishing sucked. All but one of these lakes were uncharted waters for me, so always fun to see new stuff.

Did run into a royal Sweetness while bombing shorelines. Guy was heading out onto his dock with his young son and wife as we were passing by and pretty soon he and his wife were lipping off to us in front of their kid using words that will get you a fine from the FCC. And they just kept on us. Both of them. Just complete antagonists. For me, the funniest part of the exchange was when dude pipes up something like, "Well, my kid was planning on fishing here." The kid had a 4' snoopy pole with a bobber. We were throwing Hardheads and twin tens. Prrreeeettttty sure the potato chip bluegills swarming the dock that he was going after weren't going to have a sore mouth from our 5/0 hooks.

"Sweetness" in the first sentence of the 2nd paragraph evidently is what the autotyper filter thing renamed my adjective of the fine gentleman we met on the shoreline.

Only got out on sunday morning early and then again on sunday evening. Saw 7 sunday morning, but no eaters. Got a 37" on a pounder sunday night, and a bonus 35" northern.

Steve: Aren't wells dumb.

Muskie-addict: We had something very similar happen to us a couple of weeks ago here in eagle river. We had a guy just flip out on us for casting within 100' of his dock. He was throwing f-bombs and questioning our intelligence. His four year old son looked pretty impressed with his dad's mastery of the english language.

if people don't want others fishing around their docks, they shouldn't put them in public water...

Saturday I went 3 for 4 on LSC. The lost fish came on a 9$ Bass Tuff Shad pulled under the in-line planer board. The three landed all were on a customized Perch Tuff Shad on the boat rod. The biggest was probably low 40's and fat, put up a good fight too.

Friday took my new motor out (Yamaha F40) to break it in. Fished maybe an hour tops with no action. Saw a bear swimming which is always neat.

Fished a small tourny on sat. We slept in due to the weather, then went out and my partner stuck a 43.5" in the first hour! We were pretty happy to say the least. We had a mid 40's up 4 times, really active fish, but just couldn't seal the deal.

Sunday fished for 4 or 5 hours and blanked out.

Fished Leech and another nearby lake with a friend who'd never fished for muskies. Surface temps were high 77-79. Got a couple nice walleyes shallow in the evening on twitched slammers. We hit the big smallies hard. Saw one 40 inch muskie at the surface not interested in our baits. My buddy from the south caught his first smallie, northern, walleye.

I finally had a good weekend of fishing. After really struggling all year I boated 5. I fished for just over an hour on Friday and caught one around 7pm. Fished about 8 hours Saturday, and caught 3 from 1/2 hour before moonrise to 1/2 hour after. I also had a 'something' hit and so did my Dad. Not sure if they were muskies or not, but a lot of fish were active around moonrise where we were. Sunday my wife and I went for about 1 hour before moonrise to 1 hour after. I caught one about 1/2 before moonrise.
They were 35, 38, 38, 38, and 42.5. 4 of the 5 were caught on Hardheads casting 'almost' to the weedline from deep water, and 1 was on a DDD casting 'out' from about 20 feet of water.

I would have only put up a picture of 1 or 2 but this thread is seriously lacking pictures so you'll have to deal with mine.

Thanks guys, sometimes the timing just happens to work out right. I'm crossing my fingers it works out "right" another time or two this year.
I was using the lighteye (I just call it walleye) Hardhead with a white tail. I have also done very well using the lighteye color with the rootbeer tail. This lake has medium clarity water with a slightly brown/murky color to it. Just hopping it along easily seemed to work the best those days.
