Amish pleasureboaters

I see them on the lake I fish. Kind of neat. They wear the clothes and the whole bit, they are in a nice fishing boat or a pontoon. They even go into the bar/restaurant we eat lunch at. If I ever see them musky fishing, I will get a pick. Could you imagine if they ever decided to make lures...

Yea, the Amish sure know how to catch fish. Out of the 12 or so that are on that pontoon, I have seen them leave with 3 or 4 coolers full of crappie, bluegill, walleye and perch. Some folks are pretty steamed about their fishing habits. It doesn't seem to bother me much, because they are friendly,non-violent and keep pretty much to themselves. In fact psychologists have spent thousands of hours studying the Amish society. When members of this community fall on hard times the rest seem to chip in both emotionally as well as financially. They have become models of a near perfect society. So the next time you see one out on your lake of choice, tell them you would like to join in on the next barn raising, and after that go fishing for stunted bluegills.

In the Riverside area of Buffalo they have an Oriental Family with a Meat Grinder, every thing caught big or small goes into the fish patties. Then there are the Oriental's that get caught every year in the city parks, chaseing down ducks with a fish net or at a State Park holding a hotdog in hand to a racoon while swinging a baseball bat.Our Amish get in the way once in awhile with the horse buggies but sell great jerky, cookies, cakes and pies.

We see a load of Amish at Pymatuning. My only concern is that it is my understanding that they tend to take "meat hunting" to the extreme. I know that their harvest is probably legal, but I still am concerned about overfishing. The amount they take probably isn't worth losing sleep over though.....

Maybe you should introduce those Orientals to http://www.petsorfood.com/index.shtml []

They make great furniture and can build a heck of a house. I worked with some Amish folks over winter break in college once, they are great to be around.

"Outdoors with Galeb and Abraham" coming to the outdoor network this fall.

Come on guys, god knows we pi$$ off PETA people on this board now we don't need to be ticking off Amish people reading these posts.

WAIT A MINUTE- Oh god you'll have to excuse me, I wasn't thinking straight. There is no way they can draw high speed internet connections on a pontoon. Sorry guys. But I do think we should be fair and call one of them on thier cell phones to let them know of this post.

I have a few Amish friends. We had our kitchen cabinets built by a pair of Amish cabinet makers. They were alot more reasonable, much better quality and all done with hand or belt driven tools. They would put most commercial cabinet makers to shame.
WormDrowner,
How close are you to the big Tuning? I live right here next to it. I'm just off Ackerman Bay. Get together sometime and fish the Tune?

Anon, sorry you feel that way. I just thought it was neat to see. I was not taking a cheap shot at them. I did not know about their fishing habits. I like the Amish communities and frequent them from time to time. Arther/Arcola, Shipshewana and a couple others. Amish furniture is awesome and their craftmanship and work ethic is second to none. The food is the best. I have worked side by side with them and they are great people. Like I said before, too bad they don't make fishing lures.

Anon. User,
I spoke highly of the Amish as did ToddM, I Too have worked along side of many of them and have been good friends of some for a long time. People like to clown around a little but I haven't read any true sarcasim nor are they "Bashing", It's far better than I have seen alot of you Anon Users do. We put our names on our posts as we are responsible for our actions and our words. Obviously that doesn't say the same for you. You have put more "distaste" in your post with your accusations and sarcasim. Please with all do respect, should you not add your name to your posts than just leave the conversation to itself and move on.
Thank You,

Anon, if you were offended I apologize. My humor does get the best of me sometimes and I know the taste of shoeleather quite well.

By the way, is there a good wine that goes with shoeleather?[:)]

Amish in boats fishing? Don't know about that. Mennonites do. The ones I have seen keep every legal fish they catch, big or small. Todd I thought your TV show would be a classic. Gotta be better than those two women, whatever they are, Gertrude and Hilda?
They could probably have a tips section every time such as how to fix anything with wood...

Political correctness is only correct to a certain degree and Todd didn't cross that line at all, get a life anon(and take a laxative)[]
