Location: Ohio | I ordered 4 of the Folbe rod holders with the pedestal mount. I called them today to ask about what screws to use. They suggested 1/4" diameter screws. They are going to be delivered on Tuesday and I am leaving to fish Wednesday morning to fish, so I won't have a lot of time to get them installed. I want to buy the hardware ahead of time.
1/4" seems very large, but I wanted to see what others have used. I have a fiberglass boat.
Folbe also recommended a washer on the other side of the mount between the rod holder and the fiberglass.
Any help would be great.
Thanks,

Location: Appleton | I know that I run the Scotty holders and they mount with 1/4" screws for sure. A friend of mine has the Folbe holders and the hole size looks the same as the Scotty holders I run. Hope this helps. |

| The factory bolts are 1/4" with the rail mounts. If you are drilling into glass and can thru bolt that would be your best option, simply make your hole slightly larger than the bolt itself and use large washers to spread the pressure under the nut. If thru bolting is not an option make sure your hole diameter is slighly larger than the shaft of the screw so only the threads cut into the glass. In addition countersink the hole making sure your countersink hole is wider than the threads and extends slightly thru the gel coat to prevent cracking... drill thru masking tape on top of the glass for your initial hole for the same reason.
Use stainless hardware if you can |
