I have found the new definition of craziness.......Pewaukee Lake on the 4th of July Weekend.!
I thought that going out at 4PM yesterday would be safe. Not a chance!
It was perfect; a million powerboats and pontoon boats all needing to power by within a cast length of our Tuffy; floating weeds everywhere; and to top it off for only the third time in 20 years of being on Pewaukee we got checked by wardens. Two of the three times my wife and daughter were in their bikinis! I'm sure that had nothing to do with it!
My daughter had a nice legal follow and I saw 6 undersized.
The water temps were in the uppers 70's. There were no bugs which was a nice surprise.

I caught a 38 3/4", and had a follow yesterday morning. The topwater bite is finally going! My motor broke down on me friday so now I'm sitting at home waiting until tomorrow morning for the repair shops to open.

Vermilion was a circus. My bro caught a 52.5 night trolling with me Sunday evening though once the recreation traffic was done for the night. That kind of made up for the crazy amount of watercraft buzzing everywhere the rest of the weekend.

Keith and I got one and missed a few, then went out with the family on Keith's pontoon boat and kicked the pannies around on Boom, had dinner on the boat (grilled Brats) waited for dark, and watched this (grand finale):
Shhhhh....

Fished Pewaukee from 5:00 to 10:30 on Monday morning. Saw one stupid fish in the weeds. It didn't follow, it was just sitting there. Tons of floating weeds made trolling almost impossible. Those same weeds made casting difficult as well. East end water was very dirty, west end water was clear, but full of the floating weeds.
Frustrating morning. The best part was the slow ride into the launch while drinking a cold Miller Lite!

I fished Leech this weekend with my two girls for a few hours. We didn't catch any Muskies, but got into some nice 3-6 lb Pike. All told my kids caught at least 35 Pike. The Pike were hitting so fast and furious at times that I couldn't even get a cast in between taking fish off the hook.
Final score:
- My eleven year old daughter with five nice Pike and a total of about 25.
- My seven year daughter with two nice Pike and a total of about 10.
- Myself? Just three little Pike. (Although I just missed the hook-set on a low 40 inch Muskie and had an upper 40 inch up as well.)
We kept a few eater sized Pike and I got fish cleaning duty when we got back. Sure made for a nice fish fry for everyone though.

Went salmon fishing on the Big Pond, we went 7 for 13, lost lots of those cohos, but we still got a few with one big king at the end, good day overall.

Fished Saturday morning for a little while on Kentuck. Had a 42-43 swing at a topwater bait at the boat right away in the morning and missed the bait. Couple hours later se saw a boat lose a fish and we lost one also with a hook snapping. Rest of the weekend was goofing off with the family, tubing, swimming and catching panfish off the dock.

did some exploring this weekend with the missus and started the process of learning a new system. high-skies and heat made for some good time on the water doing more relaxing than catching, but after digging around out there i think i found a new frontier for both summer and winter fun, and not too far from the house makes it even better!!

I got lucky. I found a metro lake with very little traffic. Even this weekend, the boaters on the lake were very courteous. Skiers stayed off to one side, the tubers stayed in one part, and the fishermen worked the obvious structure.
I just wish the fish had been as cooperative as the rest of the people on the water. 6 hours on Saturday and 5 hours on Monday and not even one lousy follow. Go figure.

Went on Alexander Sunday morning from 530 till 1 had 2 follows but that was it. Lots of floating weeds there too. The lake was beautiful though. Boat traffic was actually surprisingly good until about noon too so it was a pretty good time

No muskie fishing this weekend, but did get out on Superior for some lake trout fishing and landed 11 and lost 3. Beautiful wheather and fun to be on the "big pond" in an Alumacraft F-14 puddle jumper all day long.

My son and daughter came along for a long weekend up to the Manitowish Chain for some fishing and relaxation. Weather was wonderful as was the fishing.
I caught a beautiful 44" after dark on Saturday. She suprised me at boatside, taking the rod right out of my hands. Luck was with me as I dove across the deck of my Tuffy and was able to retrieve the St. Croix/Revo Winch before it went into the lake!!!
Sunday morning in 4 hours we raised 3 fish from 42-46
Went back out Sunday night at 7pm and caught a stocky 40" at 7:30 pm
Moved to another spot and my some finally got into the action catching his 6th legal and largest, a gorgeous 46". It hit on the first turn of a figure 8, did some awesome head shakes and dove under the boat. After it was in the net the look on his face was priceless. It was caught at 8:20 pm
The last spot we fished was one we had checked out in the morning and looked promising. Halfway thru the drift, I heard a splash and felt the hit. After a short battle my son did another excellent job with the net and we had another beauty.
My personal best at 46-1/2"
Three fish in 2 hours and 15 minutes. I guess the widow was open.
