Location: Hudson, WI | I was pretty impressed with Minnesota's non-resident husband and wife deal this year. Non-resident license for both you and your spouse for $54 or something like that. That's a hell of deal, considering a 7 day for one is something like $24. I'm sure glad I bought that when I did! |

Maybe I can buy one from a warden on the water .
C'mon Minnesota enough of the extreme partisanship...get it together. |

Sorry guest, I'm not from Minnesota. I didn't know about it until I saw Hookers post after 5 PM.
I was able to purchase a license from here:
https://jc.activeoutdoorsolutions.com/mn_customer/app/goHome.do
After they took my money it only let me print a receipt, not the actual license. I'm putting the receipt in my boat and using it as my license unless the politicians can get it together by next Friday. |

Location: Not where I wanna be! | typically, the most state's conservation officers are paid out of the federal fish and wildlife fund, and not a part of state gov't. so they will probably still be working. Or being considered local law enforcement, they might not be included in gov't shut downs....
Glad I got my license already! :D |

I disabled my pop up blocker and was able to print my license.

It wouldn't open up for me in Firefox. Use Explorer and allow pop ups, you will be able to print it. If you go back in like you are purchasing one you can get to your transaction history and print it out.. |

| To me, all of this begs the question........ what they would or could do to you? They being a CO or warden or whatever you call them. I mean, if you tried to buy a license and couldn't, what could they do to you if you were out fishing w/o one? Especially an out of stater or something like that and were obviously camping/lodging far away from home.
Before Pointerpride gets on here and says I'm advocating for something and then tries to pin me down to it......I'm not trying to gather the masses to go out and treat this as a free-for-all free fishing weekend. I'm just asking for rhetorical purposes.....what could they do to you? You tried to buy a license and couldn't. You were already signed up for some trip or booked a cabin? Lots of folks drive to Canada and buy a license when they're up there. More than once I have bought my WI license the night before last year's expires. Likewise with gun deer tags: Friday night purchase.
I would definitely make a good effort to buy a license, but if I couldn't, I'd go fishing and not lose much sleep over it. |

| Yeah, i'm anxious to hear what they will do. I have a trip to LOTW the first week of august and live in Indiana. This is the first I've heard this and slightly worried at this point. Hopefully it will get fixed by then, but what if it doesn't? Do I spend $1000 to drive to LOTW and sit there?
On a side note, is the construction from last year on HWY 11 between Int'l falls and Baudette fixed? |

i won't argue fishing minnesota waters of LOTW can be decent but you're missing a lot of LOTW by not crossing into Canadian waters. head up the channels and you should find a great experience with i'd argue much better fishing than what you would find on the Minnesota side. |

Why does everybody in Minnesota rail on the out of staters so much?
When it comes time to send emails for your pet projects you like us.....other than that you can't stand us.
I'm not singling you out Luke, it's just weird to me that the majority rails on out of staters but when it comes time to call the governor. We are told we need to help the group that rails on us. Not a very effective way to get help from your fellow musky brothers imo. |

| FYI from a dnr rep
Vermilion, Mile Lacs the metro lakes, except White Bear, and assorted other waters are CLOSED to muskie fishing till further notice,,,
Muskies in these waters were stocked by the state dnr and are considered state employees and representitives subject to strike,,,, or more in actual fact 'not strike' anglers offerings,,
Anglers are urged to head to Shoepack lake to avoid any confusion

| I have traveled to many other states to hunt and fish over the years, and have ALWAYS purchased the required license for the task at hand.
When it comes time to make my trips to MN later this year I will once again purchase the annual non resident, and if I cant purcahse a license, I'll be fishing without one. If I get caught oh well guess my license cost just went up a couple C-notes. Bit ridiculous since state employees dont even sell the licenses. Retailers probably sell 95% of them. |

| My resort called me last week with the news. We have a three man group going up labor day week. All three of us were able to get a lience on line before they closed down. Resort owner said he expects the state to be shut down for three or four months! Wardens will be checking for liences--especially out of state fishermen. |

The two line proposal did not pass. That bill did not even get out of committee. Just a bunch of talk with little support. During open water season, it is still one line in MN. Use two and risk a ticket.
The DNR was out in force on Leech Lake this past weekend. So, I would be careful what you try because the fines are still high. |

| So how can they cite you for not having something that you can't buy? I will be up there in August and if they are available I will buy an annual one, if they aren't I'm fishing anyway and if they stop me I will fight it as far as I can under protest. |

It's simple...they'll cite you for not having a license. The fact that the state gov't isn't selling them at YOUR convenience is immaterial. You should have bought one when you had the chance. Good luck fighting it if you get cited. You'll need it!! |

Location: Hopefully on the water | I am guessing that not EVERYONE has heard this yet that is planning on going to MN or that ALL the resorts/ hotels and such are calling each of their scheduled guests to let them know that if they don't have a fishing license already it is not worth the trip. I would be curious as to how many license are bought before and during seasons from either residents or non-residents.
I would agree that Tourism has to be ready to string them up.
But seriously what is a person suppose to do. I was suppose to leave Monday for Detroit Lakes for a quick work/fishing trip that is now cancelled because 3 out of 4 people in our group didn't get their license ahead of time and now are nervous about it. I was the one who did get mine so I am not worrying about it but now is cancelled.
This has to be frustrating for all that are involved and the money being lost has to sound like a Vegas slot machine. But what do you do? |

| Just my luck, I caught and released a state record fish last night but because the DNR has some time off they couldn't verify my catch. Oh well!
Do resorts still write up fishing licenses by hand for guests? So maybe those who need one can stop by a resort on the lake they are planning to fish.

Not since the days of the Electronic Licensing System (ELS). Most places quit selling licenses altogether because of the increased overhead required. |
