you won't be the first to ask about there glide. as of right now there are the worst glider i have ever used and i have used many. they are not a easy glider to get working right like a hellhound or phantom.

Don't replace the Owner 4X!!! Great hook, just cut the feathers off. My roommate bought 2 and didn't like 'em. Showed him the little mod the other night in the pool and ....we've got a winner!!! Thes baits are not as "dummy proof" as others mentioned, but alas....another tool for the box. "They'll bite on that".

I was talking with Larry Dahlberg at the muskie expo and he said that the factory in China screwed up and put the feathers on the rear hook instead of putting them off the above the hook on the thing the split ring attaches to. He was pretty peeed about it, but there's nothing he could do because they'd already made a boatload of them.
I hacked the feathers off the back hook and plan to try mine this weekend.

I tried mine with 5/0 mustard with not much better results. I will try it with the original hooks and the feather gone. I really like the idea of what it is supposed to do, not many gliders have a big glide path.

If you have one that isn't built correctly, return it or try to modification Steve Jonesi suggested. Obviously the builder had a run made with the feathers in the wrong place, and that can really screw up a side to side action lure. Todd, let us know if your modification works.
luckymusky, try using a soft leader, and shorten it up a bit. If that doesn't work, you got a bad lure, I'd guess. If that is the case, contact the builder and ask for a replacement or refund.

Any particular reason why you edited your own post where you offered opinion that this glider is hardest glider to work from all you tried?
I tried all modifications John suggestedand other posted in different forums without any major improvement. Do you have more suggestions I can try ?
I like to see who would accept return on modified lures and without original packaging

I've never run that bait, I had quoted MLF's statement above to make a point with you. If the bait is defective, the manufacturer needs to replace it, especially if it's a common problem with a production run of lures. That said, some gliders and side to side topwaters are harder to work than others.
Steve Jonesi said he got two of 'em running well, so he must be doing something you are not.

It would be great to see what Steve Jonesi is able to do with it in video.
My three baits are making the rounds in circle of friends and we are obviously bunch of dummies, since not one of us managed to do consistent gliding with one extra long glide as recommended by Larry. I hope someone will take the time to teach us making short video.

larry replied to me on his board on how to run it...sounds complicated for a simple wtd bait, but i am gonna try it out..he also said he will get a video up there.

Wow....a video. I wonder if the complicated instructions will be included in the video. This doesn't speak very highly of the product. A wtd bait shouldn't be very difficult to work. Perhaps the complicated instructions may be applied to other baits.
Larry's reputation has to be hurt by this. I wonder if it can be recovered by a video?

It's obvious many folks don't take to this lure easily, probably because it isn't 'automatic'. I have several WTD baits that require a special leader and adaptation in the presentation. I'm going to order one, and shoot the thing using several set-ups. We'll see.
By the way, Larry's reputation is based on way more than a single lure.
He doesn't always build his lures to K.I.S.S. standards; Larry thinks and designs 'out of the box'; rig your gear up as advised. Then use your wrist and a shorter than what is average rod length, twitching while reeling in shorter bursts. Don't use a steel leader. Get rid of the ball bearing swivel.
