A friend of mine asked me to post this as he was wanting to head up to St. Claire next week. He is going to fish out of th Belle River Area. Does he need a passport to get to that area. I would think so, but have never been there so not sure what and where on the border crossing issue to get to this specific area. Thanks to any and all replies.

hi. crossing you need a passport or enhanced driver licence. if you pulling a boat you will need a paper for your boat. respect the customs folks you will be fine. if you need help feel free i live in the area in canada. a little paperwork will put you in a WORLDclass fishery.

What is an enhanced drivers license???? He has no passport. What paperwork for the boat? Title, registration, insurance. Will that do for the boat??? Any other replies appreciated. Thanks Woodieb8. Anyone else have any info??? Thanks,

Rattlin , Call this number 1-800-387-7011 for information that is the number on the back of my , Ontario Outdoors Card and they should help you out, on ST. Claire Lake I'v only fished out of St. Claire Falls , if you fish the Canada side you need a Ontario lics. If you cross into Canada thru costoms, you need a photo Id or drivers Lics. Going back into the U.S.A. You need a Passport or Pass card nether of wich you can get by next week.

Thanks Marv. A couple buddies are gearing up for a trip to St. Claire and needed
to know what all they needed to enter and exit the borders. Thanks for the info. Good luck on the Cave.

The passport and EDL are not a Candadian requirement, they are a US requirement. You can go to Canada any time you want at any crossing you want, but to come back, you have to prove you're a citizen. Whatta country.

I highly recommend, your buddy call both US & CAN customs before deciding to drive to Canada.

Getting into CAN is ok, but not always flawless. Required picture ID for everyone in the car, kids can usually get by with a copy of their birth certficate. Be prepared for questions in person, where you are going, how long you staying, what are you bringing, etc. Also, possible inspection if you are trailering.

Very important before you leave home: Any person with FELONY charges or DUI/DWI charges on their record, will get turned back from Canada. This includes passengers.

Getting back to US is more stringent. Need either a PASSPORT or Enhanced Drivers License (offered in MI, not sure about other states). Kids need a Passport, or their ORIGINAL birth certificate to come back, copies are NOT well liked at all.

Tight lines..
