Location: northern indiana | For casting it really depends on the length of the rod. I use an 8'6" rod for casting and it's piared with a 130lb 16" floro leader. I think you could get away with a 20-24" with a 9' rod but thats my opinion. For trolling I like to use no less than a 3' leader. I prefer to use the longest I can get away with for casting but shorter lengths make for easier figure 8's. Let use know how it goes. Thanks |

| My trolling leaders are about 5 feet. My casting leaders are 4 feet long. For my casting leaders I use about 3 feet of 80 pound flouro the tie on 12 inches of 150 flouro with a snap. I don't use a swivel. The tag end of the 80 is tied direct to the braid. |

| I tie my own and make them 12" to 15". I think the key is not to make them too long that you can't properly figure 8 a bait. |
