Location: Land of the Musky | Good news, the new Tackle Industries 9’ solid blank rods are ready to go! Here is what we have ready to ship: 9’ solid blank rods in your choice of MH (1-6oz lures), XH (up to 13oz lures) and XXH (optimized for lures 8-36oz). You also have the choice of ordering 18” fat cork full grip or split grip handles.
Sorry for the wait. In short, getting the Fuji components due to the tsunami extended out the delivery time of components beyond my control. 9’ Telescopic rods will be ready in about 4 weeks as we only got about half of our Fuji parts in.

Location: Land of the Musky | Thanks! Real happy on the final weights of the rods too. Example, the XH rod is 10.1oz in final weight so that is very good for a 9' rod at that power. As a comparison, the 8'6" St Croix BigDawg weight is 10.4oz with the full grip. Similar lure weight ratings between the two. |

Was wondering what u would reccommend on the new ti rods 9ft for everything med size up to pounders, madussas, 10 inch jakes etc.. currently using gloomis 8ft 6 double 10 rod predator custom but gonna sell it and buy one of yours. Any help would be appreciated. Keep up the good work |

Location: Land of the Musky | $110 was my winter special. My new rods cost me about 18% more to make due to shipping and material cost increases so I had to up the rod special by $10 to compensate for it. I am sure if/when you use one you will figure out that they are worth far more.... |

Location: Minnesota | Pshaw!!! $10 increase??? Heck... I'd still buy TI rods if James increased the pricing by $100!!! The rod handles like a dream, especially when mated with an Okuma Isis or Cedros!!! Handles everything from Mag Dawgs/Pounders to Double Showgirls just beautifully!!!
Im seriously considering purchasing a XH this fall, and we'll see how well it fares against the XH Predator I have... I have heard of few people who prefers their TI rod over their custom Predator... and that says whole lot about the TI rods despite the LOW LOW price!!! |

| I just purchased my first TI rod today and should get it on Monday! I got the "Mag Heavy" XH Power Rod with the split grip:
- Rod length is 9'
- Lure weight rated: 3-12oz
- Line weight rated: 60-130lb
- Power: XH or Extra Heavy
- Speed/Action: Medium Fast
- Rod weight 12.3oz
I feel like a kid a few day's before Christmas!! I have not spoken to James over the phone (only e-mail) nor have I used his rods yet and I already think he is a great guy! Quick to respond and a man of his word, that's a good start in my book. Thanks James! |

Location: Land of the Musky | Correct, one piece rods. I have to say "solid" because I run out of room in my programing language for my "buy" buttons They are hollow blanks too. Just made from special fibers material and glues that are not used for fishing rods. Hence the light weight but super strong blanks.
Glad everyone is liking the new rods so far!!!! Shipped a lot more out this morning for those of you who ordered and already have more orders coming in. Thanks!!

| About 9 hours of use on the new MH TI rod yesterday. I have a Thron Bros custom rod I used almost exclusivly for the last two years and needed an extra rod for another setup. All I can say is that the Thorn Bros rod will be getting some dust on it this year. Buying another rod TODAY James! Wow! Your rod loads up like no other rod I have ever held. You have made one heck of a rod here. Going to try the split grip you make on the next rod in an XXH for my big rubber baits and the double #13s I have. Keep up the good work and thank you for keeping the prices "real". Still can not believe you are selling this quality of a rod for $120!!

Have you considered making any 7' rods? I find shorter rods much better for working jerkbaits and surface lures (I know I am in the minority on this). Just wondering if you have any plans for extending the line-up.
By the way, I have your XXH and I LOVE it. Great rod and was throwing 2 Pounders this Sat. with it. |

Location: Land of the Musky | I will make 7' rods but not for another year or so. I am maxed out in my 60'x60' warehouse along with my smaller 20'x30'. I plan on bulldozing the 20'x30' (or selling it) and putting up a 60'x100' with a semi dock on the side. Once I do that I will really blow out the rod production Will start doing bass and walleye rods at that point. Just need more room to store the inventory. Good problem to have I guess. Oh, I also need about $100k for the new warehouse. Anyone got some spare change? I will also have 8' XH rods in late fall too. If those go well I will make them in MH and XXH for 2012 Spring season.
FYI-I have a lot of guys emailing me right now asking if they can get rods from Thorne Bros or and Rollie & Helens. For some reason they will not carry the rods at this time. There loss, Musky Tackle Online's gain! I will just continue to help Aaron from Musky Tackle Online build a mansion for himself

Location: Hayward, WI | Bass and walleye rods? YES! I really love the 9' XH I got from you. Getting pretty tempted to pick up a 9' XXH. I was commenting this weekend that I wish you would make a walleye rod. I like casting stickbaits for walleyes, but have not found a rod that I like for it yet, at least not for a reasonable amount of money.
Please make a 7'6" or maybe even 8' M or ML spinning rod that will load enough in the tip to cast #10 Husky Jerks well but still have good backbone to rip weeds off the bait, set hooks, ect. I bought a "slow" rod for casting those baits this year and found that it may have cast the baits just slightly better, but felt very sluggish when working baits and fighting fish.
I will anxiously wait for the walleye rods to come out and you can sign me up for one or two, or three...
These rods are good stuff James.

Lightweight and LOVE the big back end...I have a 9' KT edge series, an 8.5' Gander Guide Series, and the TI rod. I gotta' say, I think I will be going with ALL TI rods in the future. For the price, the rod is responsive, light weight, and the big back end makes it a breeze to cast. Great product at a great price....what a concept! |

Got some prototypes in the works right now. 14" EVA handles, all metal guides, 8' long, Fuji reel seats, etc. If you prefer different specifications just let me know. This is not set in stone yet. I can easily make them a little longer if most want to see a longer trolling rod like 8'6". I think 8'6" will still fit in most guys boat rod lockers. |

Location: South-Central VA | I build all of my own rods but I've been hearing so much about Jame's new lineup that I ordered a 9' MH with split grips from him a few weeks ago. To be honest, I really only ordered it because I was curious to see what his blanks are like. Being a custom builder, I don't have many options to choose from as far as blanks in the 9' range. The big name companies just don't have many long, heavy blanks available, especially ones that are rated for the big lures that many guys like to throw.
To say I was pleasantly surprised with the rod is an understatement. The craftsmanship on the rod is right on par with what I'm used to seeing on other factory rods. What I really liked is the lightness of the rod and the power and action of the blank. It has a nice soft tip to keep fished pinned but it also has great power from the middle to the butt. I went with the MH because I don't throw huge lures. A big fish for my local river is in the low 40's with a fish of a lifetime being anything around 45". I've used the rod to throw double 8's and 9's as well as crankbaits in the 2-4oz range. This rod is exactly what I wanted for those lures and the price can't be beat, especially when you consider the quality.
James, you mentioned in a post above about having your blanks available to custom builders in the next year or so. If you decide to offer them, I think it will be safe to say that I would recommend them over just about any blank. They would be my choice for all of my personal rods. Not to mention that it would open the door for me to offer full custom builds for around the same price range that the big companies are charging for factory rods!
All I have to say is keep up the good work and please sell blanks to custom builders in 2012!!!!

Location: Ontario | It's pretty criminal to me at least how big companies will charge $300+ for a muskie rod when a smaller-scale guy like James is able to put out a very similar product that's domestically made for half the cost. I have a $300 Croix Big Dawg and you will have a hard time convincing me that that extra money is in any way justified. (Buddy of mine guided a group from St. Croix so I got mine for a low price) It's a nice rod too, but if James is putting out what he does and selling them for what he does something just doesn't add up. I'm going to shoot some video this wknd of the new XXH 9' telescopics I just got in and send it along to him so guys can get an idea of what the rod's capable of. I say spend your extra money on a top-end muskie reel, the TI rods are a dynamite value any way you look at it. I've been a St.Croic guy my entire life (right down to all my ice rods) but I've had three emails to them from Ontario go unanswered in three years. James responds within four hours every time. There's something to be said for service, too. Definitely not a slam on St.Croix, just a factual observation from one of their long-time customers. |

| okay, i just had to order a 9' solid rod from james today. All this free advertising!!!! i have his tele rods now and like them alot but just prefer solid fishing rods.
and i agree jbush. SC makes nice rods, but for the price, james rods are quite nice. i just hope he doesn't raise prices too much :). I sent a buddy of mine who is on a budget to tackleindustries.com last night to get a rod. For $120 i may end up getting a few more once an 8' solid comes out. |

Location: Land of the Musky | Just a side comment on prices. What I have found with larger companies is that a lot of money goes into advertising. Example: Rapala (Normark Corp) spent over $20 Million just on advertising a few years ago. I talk with a lot of sales guys in other industries and if a "widget" cost $5 to make you will have another $2-$4 in advertising for it to be successful on a large scale. I have been in business for almost 8 years I have taken the stance that I will put a little more money into the design and quality and very little in advertising. The saving are passed along to my customers in the form of lower retail. My SuperD lures are a good example. The SuperD cost more to make with my double coil harness vs my competition when I first made them but I was able to price them about 35% less because I was not advertising on the big shows paying out $20k-$40k per show as a sponsor (x 3 or 4 shows!!). That amount of money is a lot of money to make up in lure sales. But don't think I am not advertising either, I have a small advertising budget and you will see my ads from Muskies First to Musky Hunter magazine and as of last year I started putting out commercials on TV in and around the major musky shows. In 2012 you will see that increase about 10X but I found a way to keep my cost down significantly for commercials so you don't really see my retail go up that much. To me the business&marketing side is just as much fun as the lures and rods. Still #1 IMO has to be customer service. I have a little rule for myself and I have to answer all emails and phone calls in 24-48 hours. I am about 99% there but my pesky kids get in the way sometimes.  Some here will testify that I answer emails at 11pm on a Saturday night.

| Anyone complaining about price on this site is in the wrong hobby! It doesn’t have to be expensive but it’s like a drug and it will soon get out of control and expensive. My name is Jason and I have been a musky addict for 22 years, 244 days and 23 hours and I am going to buy another rod from James as soon as I figure out how to hide another purchase from my wife!! By the way, leaving for LOTW on Friday night from Chicago! Plan on telling the wife tomorrow about my trip, wish me luck!! LOL!! |
