I have been having luck with trolling at around 4 to 4.5 mph with cranks but I only have a couple that can keep up. Both invaders seem to spin and rise and then a few swim sideways. I was wondering if anyone knew any baits that could be trolled fast

At least four of my Shallow Invaders will do 7. Perchbaits can really handle speed, the solid ones moreso than the jointed, but the jointed can stay in there too if you bend em a little. Worth their wt in gold. Jakes and Grandmas can take it fast too. Solid lures have always handled more speed than jointed for me. Spinnerbaits and bucktails can handle it too.

Agree with Jeff Hanson.....Also don't be afraid to think outside the box and add bell sinkers to the head hook split ring of "non-traditional speed trolling baits" to keep them in their place when running multiple lines. Experiment with the size of the sinker and use the smallest that offers you the track you are looking for. If you need a large one that you think may interfere with your hook-ups, add a second split ring in a chain and hang the weight from the top one and the hook from the bottom one for better separation. And first, be sure they are in tune, not close..... but IN tune.
Speed multiplies the strikes….. but also the problems! Have fun!

i have try for the firstf time a jointed mx6 and a straight one
believe me they kick hard,and oh boy ,the paint job is perfect.
i will never need more wiley
after a half day of speed trolling,0 hook rash
now i will need to take a serious look at the mordas minnow

try Big Game Scuba divers they go to about 9mph or at least thats the fastest we have tried to get them to go and they walk a great trigger for these fish ! ! ! ! ! !they are also out fishing some of the other baits you guys have been talking about ! ! !

i dont no about those mordas minnows ive had problems with them some of them dont run very good and all his baits look like copys of other baits

I have never had any problem with any Mordas minnows or any other MuskieTrain bait. The MX baits don't look anything like any other bait the Diesels don't either.
So if you are going to bash someones product put down the Boone's farm and put your full name on your post and register on this forum....
Wait till the MX7.5" are out at the Chicago show. I have some prototypes and have been slamming the fish on them..

We run a lot of Woodies here on LSC and they run great up to 7mph " the fastest I troll" like any wood bait they can be tuned to run at different speeds and also to run "true" or straight as most want them to do. I like to have them wonder at times I find it makes the musky commit better on the days when they are short striking. Like some one else said try adding weigh ahead of the leader so it will help keep the bait down in the water the bait will correct its self and maybe blow out the other way it it does wonder from one side to the other that is a good thing.

I forgot in my previous post to mention the mordas minnows and other musky train lures. The mordas minnow has been a solid producer for me the past couple of years. Put a 50" in the boat just last year. Another bait i haven't seen mentioned that can be tuned to take the speed is the Depthraider, i've had them up to atleast 6mph with no problems. i know baker bait shads in 5" and pearson plugs in 5,6 and 8 can handle speeds past 5mph although..i had to beef up the boards to the churchs tx-44 to handle the pull of these baits ...i love these lures and boards big time ,,,,,good luck ...bushy

In terms of copying baits, I have to use the analogy of tires. Tires are all round and black but they still all perform differently. It gives the consumers a choice. Would you really only want one style of bait to fish with? What about bucktails? Wire, blade and skirt- I don't hear anyone saying anything about copies?
In response to your performance question; Jeff Hanson and John Dennis were number 1 and 2 in Muskies Inc. master division and each of them caught around 200 plus fish last year. In both cases, both anglers registered 60 plus fish on Muskie Train baits. I won't even go into the numerous amount of charter boat captains that use our product and run the baits non stop during the musky season. They would differ with you on your review of the product. They hold up well and catch fish.

And Mike M; I Don't register my fish any more, But if I did, I would have been right in behind Jeff, and John with 168 ski's in my rig last year. With many coming on the Diesel. Awesome lures. Your other lines of baits have also peaked my interest.
Great Job on the muskietrain line of lures, And Yes, they will get you 4+MPH trolling speeds!

Most baits should be able to be tuned to run 5 to 6 MPH, some are just a little touchy. Sometimes those are the hot ones, I feel mostly that you need to find the right speed that makes each bait magic. Either by tuning or up and down on the speed, going 7 when the sweet speed is 4 does no good. Of coarse you will find one that just does not work, sometimes in the manufacturing process things can get off (wood or plastic) and in woods case the grain. The steeper the lip the more thump for the most part (not always) so the faster you go the more thump and hard thumping baits at high speeds will rattle your rod holders real good. They might blow out easier because of the eratic action does not alow them to hook to the water.

Thanks for all the responses guys! I will have to try a few more things and hopefully can get them to work. Also I have a couple muskie train lures and really like them have never had a problem and same with tackle industries. I have a pole from there and its the best i have found! Both are awesome companies if you ask me!
