My tica broke. I need to purchase a new rod for burning big blades with my Diwa Saltist. I have a 8'6" XH Okuma with a revo winch on for rubber and blades now. I like Okuma for the price. Before I buy another Okuma, what would you all buy?

I throw my double 10 and 13 on the 8'6" black river rod. I absolutely love it. The price is very affordable and costomer service is second to none.

Does it really matter if it's been discussed? It's not like there are thousands of hot topics going on right now. If your tired of it don't open and read the subject!

I used my well used Okuma and brand new TI telescoping rods quite a bit the last week. The Okumas are three years old and still going strong. The new TI telescoping 9' models are well balanced and well made, and I'd describe them as 'sweet' after a week's use. Both brands balance OK to a bit tip heavy on the Okuma side, but I use home made balancers to make them each perfect for me, and have even on my previously owned $275 to $350 rods. I'd call the actions to be exactly as advertised. Guides, reel seats, wraps, cork, and care in manufacturing have been great on the Okumas, and exceeded my expectations on the TI rod. Both are what I expected in weight. Both are well under $150.00. Although I haven't had to use either, the warranty and customer service for both companies is rated highly here.

I can't comment on the more expensive rods, because I don't own one. I have tried them, and thought they were very nice, but my personal needs were met by the two rods I mentioned....nicely.

There really isn't a 'best' double 10 rod. Why? because the price point may make a high quality rod 'the best' for one consumer, brand makes it 'best' for another, allegiance to a brand for another....etc. Any one opinion is no less valid than the previous or next.

Marketing research shows clearly that shoppers offer less consideration to those who don't list the features and benefits that would possibly convince the prospective buyer the rod is what is needed even if that person is a well known or even famous promotional agent, and indicates the savvy buyer usually is irritated by and ignores advice from those who can't give you those features and benefits without beating the hell out of other products. If there was any advice this old marketing/sales dog could offer, it would be: " Be a savvy buyer"

And...be a savvy recommend-er, too. Please.

10 foot bulldawg series rod. 4-16 oz lures. 9 footer good as well, figure 8's just aren't as big.

My vote is for the Tooth Tamer 8'6" X-Heavy TT86XHC. Great all around rod and not a bad price.
