My dad is looking at getting a cabin in tha Phillips area and i was wondering what the muskie fishing is like. Not looking for any specific lakes or spots just want to know if the area is know for numbers or big fish or both. Just looking for general info about the area. Thank you

Very good area for fishing. Lots of action and decent size on the Phillips Chain. Butternut is an action-based lake. Many other lakes within a 20 minute drive. Much of the water is darker/more stained but there are some clear lakes in the area.

A was said, a very good area. Dark tannin stained water. Bright colors and topwaters are the ticket!! Send me a PM if you would like some specifics and what lake in particular you are looking at. Real Estate is still pretty reasonable in the area. This is my 12th year owning and I couldn't be happier.

Talk to John from Ross' Bait Shop and Marc or Chris from Elk River Custom Rod Shop, they guide the area and can give you some good info.

Fishing has been tough so far this year, but it will improve. I have a place on the chain so i fish it alot. Most of my action comes on Duroy or Butternut lake.

We went up there on sunday to look at the cabin and my dad caught his PB on the lake. I put the pic in the big fish.
