On my Optimax when the motor is trimmed way up (prop still in the water) I get water coming out of the hose ( about 2" around where the cables and such run through) and out the seam of the cover. If the motor is trimmed down this doesn't happen. I take the cover off and do not see any water. Is this something that is normal or not just with the angle of the motor.

what year is the motor. there is a fuel cooler on the motor. mine was leaking and the water did the same. mine is a 98 and when merc started makeing the opti's they didnt have the water fuel cooler drain on itself and it would hold water and freeze and crack. but from my understanding they drain now. i would say to take the cover off and put hose on and run it at home and trim motor up and see where its leaking. you may have a crack in the hose or loose clamp or the cooler is leaking

I have a 2010 opti and had some water spray and it was the little gray hose very small coming out of that opening in front and that hose is your speed indicator there are two of them there and maybe the plug of one of them has come out just a thought

It is a 2010 200 Optimax. I will have to look at it on Sunday. That is my concern when fall comes around of water being in it freezing and cracking. Thank you for the tips.

ok had the boat out on Saturday and the motor cut down the power while cruising along. Opened the cawling and the motoe had a ton of water in it. Had to nurse the boat back and stop every 1/4 mile and trim the motor all the way up to empty the water out of the moter. I got home and checked things out.
Don I see the grey hose you are talking about and it is teed in the back of the morot. 1 line goes to the back of the motor on the bottom. the other to the top on the motor into a relay or sensor? and the other end of it goes free for about 18" and not plugged into anything. It sits up by the oil tank on the motor but do not see where it would plug into if anywhere. All hoses look to be good. I ran it on the muffs this afternoon and see where the water is coming out of and it looks like a gasket on the bottom of the motor. Question is if I silicone that should that help elimate that issue The motor is a 2010. I could take it in but the down time is what I am concerned about for something that looks like it could be a simple fix with silicone. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

i would say get it in, or call your dealer and see what they say. i would think that is all part of the water system, and the big gasket that is part of that has to be bad.. . i would get it in if i were you. but im sure that someone here might know too
