Location: Lake Geneva, WI | At the end of last season I put brand new lights on my trailer and everything worked fine. Now, the only lights that work for the trailer are the running lights. No brakes or turn signals. I check my fuses in the truck and they all appear fine. I checked all fo the connections and they also seem fine. Would anyone have an idea on what to try next? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks |

| My truck has two fuse panels. One between the door and the dash when you open the driver's door, and the other is a square black lunch box looking thing under the hood. Assuming you checked both those......?
Next I would say its at your plug, or near it, since both sides don't work and your running lights.
If you have a setup like mine, the "7 pin round into flat" converter plug dealy-o, they can go bad occasionally. Could have gunk somewhere on it. Check for electric fuzz. I'd say you've got something pinched or disconnected somewhere if you don't find a fuse that fixes your problem. I'd say its at your plug.
As long as you're dinking around, wouldn't hurt to re-ground yourself at the trailer. Many things 12v related are a ground issue, although this particular issue doesn't sound like its ground alone. One way to make sure things are running right if you know you've got a rock solid ground on your trailer.

| Check the fuses in your truck again. Last year I re-wired my entire trailer (which needed to be done anyways) while the problem the entire time was simply fuses blown in the truck. However, the fuses would be blowing for a reason which would most likely be the ground. |

| I had a similar problem that i fixed this year on my trailer. A volt meter would be pretty handy in isolating where the problem is stemming from (truck/trailer). Pin pointing the problem will be much easier if you can determine whether or not your delivering power on each connection to your trailer.
My issues turned out to be a shotty ground on one side (check right at the light) and a burnt out bulb on the other. |

Location: MN | You can get a cheap trailer light tester that plugs into your trucks 4 pin connector that goes to the trailer. Has saved a lot of time for me. This will at least tell you if it's truck or trailer.
