Will be in the Rapids area in a couple of weeks for a youth soccer tournament and may bring boat. Can anyone point me in the right direction on the Biron Flowage? Also, heard something about Lake Nepco, any info there would be appreciated too. Thanks!

biron Flowage is one of the easier/safer to navigate in the area. I will assume you will be putting in at the public launch across from Anchor bay bar and grill on the southern end of the flowage, east side of the river which is closest to Rapids. Heading up from there will be some nice backwaters on both sides, weeds will be coming in good, growing to about 3-3.5' of water out there in select areas(mostly milfoil). Look for flats in the 3-5' range vs the 1-3' stuff the WI river flowages are famous for. Bucktails and shallow running jerks/cranks tough to beat casting, but don't eliminate trolling. The boat traffic on that body is significant on summer weekends. so moving away from those areas, or further up river where it is a bit more difficult to navigate with larger pleasure boats can help eliminate frustration.

Nepco has a few muskies in it, but not what I'd consider fishable population. Each year a couple are caught, but with the WI river right there, your time will be rewarded more likely there.

Don't forget about Petenwell either. Big water, but decent fishing for multi species.

castle rock, and dont rule out any of the small sections of the wisconsin river- careful on the river it has alot of hazards.

actually, just from a safety standpoint I'd rule out the smaller sections if you are just coming for the weekend and want a prop on your boat for your trip home. Poster above is correct, Castle Rock is excellent, though nearly an hour drive from Biron. It will be hot out this weekend. Petenwell channel will start showing a good trolling bite, and the backwaters won't be too hot yet for Muskies, yet warm enough to get the fish active. Look for new weed growth!
