I checked the model and I for sure have a 20", and it is a Ranger Series motor so I assume it is the correct length.

Cool. I'd still call Ranger if you're repowering. When I did my repower I already knew what I wanted, but I called them and got their "blessing" to hang my new motor and their recommendations for prop, motor height and all of that. And they were spot on. I hung and propped it like they said and it was great right out of the box. They're a great help with repowers.

It's hard to say, which is why I said to call Ranger. When I went to repower, since I have a 620 hull I started looking for a 25" motor just on assumption. I looked at my blown VMAX and it was a 20! I called Ranger and confirmed both that 1) I have a 620 hull and that 2) I need a 20" motor on my boat. Whatever the difference is, I have a 20" motor. So I'd be guessing if I said 20 or 25 on RJ's boat.

Call Ranger.

Thats interesting you say that, i was sure I had a 20" and that it was the correct length for the boat until i was rummaging through some of the old 690/692 posts and saw the pic of your boat, it definately looks longer than mine.

I'll have to get ahold of Ranger and find out for sure, I've searched the web to find specs but i have not found that yet, only thing I have found is that there were 21" transoms on early 690/2's and 23" possibly on the later ones.

I would have thought the mfg performance tests would show that info but they don't, usually just have the hole position.

I f the transom is a set back like the 96 or newer 690's it is probably a 20" if it is a flat back pre 96' it is probably a 25"

Probably would take a 20" for the repower.
