Location: So. Illinois | Our MI chapter had it's Guide-for-a-Day outing to raise funds that help us support the IDNR's efforts to manage Kinkaid Lake, IL. We had 14 paid clients with 11 guide boats. 5 fish were caught by our clients and released (33, 33, 35, 37, and a 43). We had to deal with a major cold front and a water temp drop of 9 degress from the previous day. Not only were we able to put a few fish in the boat but we were able to teach our clients about proper handling, CPR techniques, safety, the use of proper tools and equipment, our local conservation efforts and the efforts of MI. After fishing hours, everyone was treated to a grilled ribeye steak, baked potato, salad and deserts. Everyone had a great time.

Location: Eau Claire | Put 4 in the boat and lost one more all under 40. Saw a fair amount of fish, but they were pretty sluggish and their aim was off on the strike. Agonizingly slow retrieve seemed to be the ticket in the cold and rain. |

| We boated one 35" and lost another. Saw lots of fish that were chasing baits. Fished slow/small, but couldn't get them interested. 10 inch bait took the 35 and almost all of action came on large baits. Water temps up to 55 in places and many fish showed signs of the spawning process. Was COLD and WINDY. Sounds like nicer weather on the way for this weekend. |

| Walleye opener on Mille Lacs was good...and bad. The fishing was phenomenal. Our cabin (three boats, six guys, two days) got around 110 fish, 25 were over 25", biggest was a 28". I got a 26.75" literally 2.5 minutes into season. The bad was my trolling motor was eaten by the lake and I have some fresh cracks in my gel coat from pounding waves...ugh. |

| Wife and I fished for an hour and got two, saw two others. Hers was a whopping 10-12 inches long, mine was about 34. Did see one nice female about 43 inches long who was still pretty scarred up. Pretty fun trip for only being out an hour.
