Anyone have any suggestions for keeping rust of the boat trailer. I had a boat that was only 2yrs old and the trailer was all rusty already. I couldnt believe it, mainly big bar between the wheels. You would think after 2 yrs the trailer wouldnt be full of rust already. Anyone have suggestions? Any type of rust proofing that can be done for trailers? Thanks

Hiya,

I would think that if you cleaned up the surface rust on the axle and between areas, then cover them with truck bed coating, you might be able to curtail it.

Had the same problem!!!! 2 years too.
I grinded the rust off, primed it and painted with tremclad - worked fine.
I just stay on top of it every spring and hit the few rust spots right away and all is good.
They use a ton of road salt here in Ontario!!!!
I have some bedliner-like stuff I am going to try on the undersides and front facing supports that are out of view that may help - dunno?

Use POR-15 first, then prime and paint. It is avialable at any paint and body store. It is the only thing that will keep the rust from coming back.
