Location: North Central IL USA | What's the purpose of this. Seems like most baitcasters have a NON-Disengaging Levelwind ( which makes more sense to me).
I'm contemplating getting a Curado E but not so sure I want a Disengaging Levelwind reel. |

| Casts farther because it doesnt have to move the levelwind back and forth each time...(just the spool spinning)
If your worried about line filling on one side, or something like that........ I wouldnt.. I've used my curado DSV going on 3 years now for jerks, small tails, and topwaters.. Small comfortable, and durable.... I will buy another when this one dies..

Location: Latitude 41.3016 Longitude 88.6160 | Most Bass reels have a DISENGAGING Level Wind system, most bass reels have a narrow spool and use light line, so a reel with a D.L.W. sytem will cast further with that system. Reels that have a wide spool and cast heavy line work best with a Non-Disengaging Level Wind system. I know alot use the Curado with 100lb test braid and they say it is fine, I think 65lb is max for that reel. I would look at a Toro, it has a N.D.L.W. system which I like for line over 65lb test. |

| On a wide spool a DLW can cause backlash problems due to the line having to make such a drastic angle coming off the spool thorugh the line guide. Plus it produces huge spikes in drag because of the same angle. In bass reels it's fine but on a lrger musky reel a synrchronized is the only way to go. |

About 95% of all Anti-Reverse Bearings have a plastic housing to hold the roller bearings. The Toro Anti-Rev is one of the best, it also has a backup pawl.
Where do all the rumors like that start from ???? I bet it was from a Shimano fan.

Thanks for the info.
Yeah, probably a Shimano fan.
I don't know, I guess with either a Toro or Curado there's gonna be some failures. Probably going to come down to what feels best in my hand. |

Where did you hear that they will be discontinued next year? Because wherever you heard it they are wrong! All the good selling Toro's will still be here next year and don't be surprised to see something new in the line. |

I keep a open mind on all rods and reels, I buy whatever brand of reel or rod that is the best. The Toro is the best low profile reel U can buy and Shimano Calcutta TE reels are the best round reels. You may have a opinion based on hear say and what you hear on line, my is I have fished them and I have worked on them and know all the strengths and weakness of most reels, I have open them up and know what and how they are made. SORRY MSKY3 |

| I am waiting for the Curado 500 if it hits the market. I have no clue about any specs on it but I love my curados. I have a Toro 60 winch that I'm not all that crazy about I'll just stick with my saltist for the blades. But if the new curado 500 comes out the 60 winch is for sale!
