Just wondering if anyone has one of these for the boat. I see that their waterproof to 10 feet, take HD video, and have a 5 MP camera all in one. Got me thinkin' that it be pretty sweet to take underwater video of releases and would be cool just to carry along in the boat for those "you wouldn't believe it" moments. If someone has some underwater release footage to post that'd be cool to see. Kodak website has them on sale now for $120 and even cheaper on ebay.

Picked one up last year with the thought of trying to get catching a fish on film for an affordable price. I bought the "hat cam" hat and a missing piece didn't allow me to shoot much footage. I messed around with it a little bit after catching a fish solo and the picture quality seemed ok but "wind noise" dominated much of the sound you can hear. My one complaint is that without having a viewing screen in the back it's hard to determine where the camera is really pointing, it might look like you are aimed right at a certain spot and in reality you are nowhere near it and are filming nothing. The underwater footage option kinda seems like a cool idea but I'm not sure how practical it is to just hold it under water, unless there's some kind of mounting device that would work well. Going to try it out here in early 2011 and see if I can find a useful purpose for it....

I have a GoPro HD Hero unit I'll be using often. There's so many ways to mount these things either onto yourself or the boat that it's insanity.

Brian, look into buying a Monopod. I'm sure there's ways to attach them to the sides of boats and then letting the camera dangle upside-down into the water, but if you've got a second person in the boat operating it while the other is fighting the fish (hopefully you), it's a great investment to have. I think they run for $10-20 online. Some models also extend down to 10 feet.

This fish (more like shadow) was sitting in 20ft water last summer. Got it with the playsport/monopod.

$170 will get ya the gopro 960 which will record 960p video and it has a 5 MP still camera....in the waterproof housing its good to 180ft....this is just my 2 cents but I think that's a better deal. I just bought the gopeo HD which is $299 and records 1080p video. Like I said just my 2 cents.
