| I was cleaning my 401TE and when I put it back together I have a problem. Now when I turn the handle it makes a horrible clicking sound. I reassembled it and it still does it. I know it isn't the clicker. It doesn't happen until I place the drag star on (before that it turns without problem).
I'm hoping someone here might know what I did and I won't have to send it out.
Thanks for the help. |

| That did the trick. You are awesome.
The only down side is the pawl got bent before I realized what was wrong. I got it working but will need to order a replacement.
Thanks for the help. |

| I did bend it back to where it works. But it was bent in 4 different ways. It seems to be working fine, but I like my gear in top order and will probably replace the part also.
Thanks for everything. |

Best to replace the A/R Pawl every 1-2 years. |

| Just out of curiosity, do you have a reference for cleaning / maintaining the calcutta 400TE? The cleaning instructions on shimano's web site don't seem to match the 400TE well.
Are there any other parts that you consider routinely changing?

At the end it has 2 Mod.options to gain a little more out your TE.
Just oil your reel bearings once a month and clean your reel once a year and your TE will last a lifetime. |
