THis question is really not a muskie question but it does involve musky lure.

Has anyone used the Spring Dawgs to catch bass with. I just spent the weekend up at Thornes Bros during there spring sale and was looking at these with the mond set that at the size they are would they be a good bait for bass fishing as well!! ( I did buy 2 of them)

So my question to everyone is have you tried this and if so did it work for you.

TO me it seems like a great bait to use for them. Not overly big and has good action that I think the bass would enjoy chewing on.

Even if you have not ever tried to use them for bass please give me you opinon on wether or not I am nuts in thinking this would be a good lure to catch bass!

Thornes had a great sale and had some great seminars. Too bad the weather really stunk all weekend. But it was alot of fun and now I am broke once again after spending waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much money. But at least this time I spent about $125 on bass stuff and alot more than that on muskie. But my wife was impressed when I came back home Saturday with alot of bass fishing stuff. Her thinking was that Thornes only sold muskie stuff becasue in the byweekly trips I make there all I came home with was muskie stuff.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Mike

I've seen pictures of some huge bass caught on regular sized bulldawgs. I don't see why the spring dawgs wouldn't work just as good for producing smaller fish and the occasional hawg.

Did some more looking and now I have found something even smaller but the only 1 review that I found did not give it a great review for bass but did give it high marks a good small lure for muskies.

Angling Innovations Micro Dawg are a smaller version at only 3". I guess in my eyes if the larger 6" version are good for bass then why wouldn't the 3" version be as well.

Let me know what you all think about both versions for bass fishing

Thanks again for any and all opinons
Mike

The Micro Dawgs have proven an effective bait in the BWCA for me for Smallies, Pike and Walleyes. I even bagged a 6.5 pound walleye on opener 2 years ago on a Nano-HeliDawg on an Aitkin County Lake. I have also caught a fair amount of Large Mouth on both the Nano Heli Dawgs and Micro Dawgs. I usually have a spinning rod I keep in my boat that has one of the two tied on in the event I get the urge to toss smaller things. They are a great multi species tool.

+1

I've got a spinning set-up that I keep on hand for springtime fishing, as well. I've got a few Spring Dawgs. I've not personally caught anything on them myself... but I know my buddy in Minnesota got a 5.3lb. Largemouth out of Minnetonka on one.

I have caught quite a few 4-5 lb largemouth bass on the holo bluegill pattern spring dawg. Also caught a 30" blue cat on a spring dawg once, thought i had a monster. Bulldawgs will catch anything peroid!!!!! Just throw them,u may be surprised at what u will catch.
I shouldn't tell this but a secret weapon in the night bass tourneys i fish around here is the black micro dawg. won me 2 of 4 last year. also got me the big fish of the day
