I've never been able to convince myself to use fluorocarbon leaders, but I've been looking into it a lot lately. I know they have the advantage of being a lot less visible than wire, but I've always thought that fish could bite through them pretty easily. It seems like some guys say they have had fish cut through them like it was 6 pound mono, and others say they have a hard time cutting fluoro with filet knife. I have suspicions that it depends a lot on the quality of the fluoro itself, so I was wondering what types of fluorocarbon guys have good experiences with, and more importantly what types have guys been cut off with?

I've been using Seaguar for the last couple of years now with no problems.

I have had good experiences with Seaguar and Yo Zuri, I can say I have been bit off with both brands but that was using 80# and 100#, fish hit the leader instead of the bait and the rest was history, haven't had any problems with 130# and just got some 150# for this season.

Do you know what brand fluorocarbon stealth leaders are tied with? I've heard so many good reports about them that I feel like they use some top notch fluoro.

Yo Zuri is the pink stuff. I use 200# for the heavy stuff and 130# for the rest. I have never been bitten off and would recommend it for all applications.

Guest, I'm pretty sure Stealth is still using Seaguar for their leaders. I've been making my own from 150# Seaguar and haven't had any problems with it. Some leaders I might catch several fish on, others I might replace after 1 fish. Never had one that looked like there was any worry of it being cut though. I hope I don't regret that statement someday, but so far so good.
