| As most of you know, first place in Match Fishing is awarded
their choice of a St. Croix rod.
As an added bonus, our good friend John Falendysz (aka FISHLIPS) took the liberty to run
with the idea of a "trophy" of sorts to further the winnings.
Most had seen the belt at the banquet in February, but in case anyone wants a peak at what you can walk away with in the end, below is a close up,
along with an "incoherent volunteer model"
through out the season Im going to try to put together a runner-up prize,
maybe some baits, maybe something non fishing related.
Surely 2nd place deserves something.

| I think Joes team name should be "JoeBlanksAlot" just saying...
Once again I gave Joe the item of a shock collar for his match, and yet again, nothing shocking happened.
Im thinkn I need to be in the boat next match, with you wearing it, and me pressing the button everytime you dont catch a fish! |

| I have not received Eric Hansons picture yet,
but he had prevailed in his match against Brandon Ahrens with a 40".
there have been plenty of matches fished in the last couple weekends,
but not many results at all. seems fish are only being caught when there isnt a match going on!
Here is the results from my match this last Saturday against Jim Kramer,
it was one of the longest days Ive ever spent on the water!
My partner John aka fishlips, popped this nice 39 twenty minutes into the match,
we started at midnight figuring we would be rewarded with great night success due to the full moon and approaching heat for the weekend.
well after his fish was released, we went on to fish another 12 hours without
anything. no follows, strikes, nothing!
very discouraging to say the least, so what do muskie nutz do when they havent seen anything? continue on, cause eventually something has to happen right? LOL
we put in a total somewhere around 18 hours on the water that day, ended up with 2 follows, 2 misses, and that 39.
so it just goes to show, in the 24 hours you have to fish a match, from midnight to 11:59 pm, you are bound to find a fish that is willing to get its pic taken.
way to go buddy! glad you could help score me a few points again this year
and take a wild guess who gave me my item for the match....

| this nice 40"er was the outcome of Eric Hanson against Brandon Ahrens.
Erics item was a dog collar, Joe said he was to have a leash on it as well,
but after Sonnets incident with the pink scarf last year, I think we should stay away from things that can get wrapped around anything.
anyway, nice job Eric!
so far there is only 4 fish registered, so it really is anyones game right now.
There has been a handful of people setting up matches every chance they get,
and then like last year, theres a bunch of sandbaggers.
poke those sandbaggers to get going!

| Theres been lots of matches being fished lately, but still not much for results,
latest registered is JJ Loos with a 35.75 against Mark Steinbach.
I will post the picture as soon as I get it. JJ's computer is on the fritz.
Im sure there will be quite the influx of matches fished this weekend since its the last weekend for summer. Remember guys n gals, september 1st I will be tallying catches and drawing the matches for the finals.
so get your last matches in soon or you wont be strapping on that
gaudy fine specimen of a championship belt!

| First picture is from JJ's match against Mark Steinbach,
I had the length wrong in the post above. It was a 35.75,
as you can see he's fashioning what seems to be a lucky item for matches,
the trusty hard-hat! minus the village people. way to go JJ.
the 2nd pic is from Jeff Young vs. Shawn Killips this last saturday.
I helped the old man out with a 38.
I believe there is one last match happening today between Dave Kierstead and Eric Herzfeldt. Otherwise this will be the end of the summer slam.
I will be drawing playoff spots during our next meeting tuesday sept. 6th.
congrats to everyone that scored a fish this year.

| Ok, its been a while but I finally have my update put together.
after the regular season ended August31, we had our club meeting and tallied the points.
The finals were as follows. Eric Hanson, JJ Loos, Jeff Young, Jon Regal, and Kevin Kowalski. since we had a pool that didnt produce, we went ahead with a 5 man bracket and awarded the largest fish thus far with a buy to the final round.
Jon Regal had secured that spot with his 50 earlier in the season.
In wanting to get the matches going again so we didnt end up like last year,
I had challenged Jeff during the Kevin Worral Memorial tournament on Pelican lake. Jeff had good old Johnboy as his partner for the tournament,
and of course, John caught a fish. He took me out and landed himself 8th place in the standings.

| To follow up on the playoffs, Eric Hanson had given JJ the go ahead to the finals
since he has been very busy with his new addition to the familly.
So that left Jon, Jeff, and JJ to make up this akward 3 man bracket.
so, we figured it was best to just have the 3 of them fish against eachother once,
so each guy would fish 2 matches. Total points at the end of those matches is
the champion.
well the first match of Jon vs. JJ was a blank, Then it was Jon vs. Jeff.
we had some good results for that one! The morning started off with action just about every half hour. We had lost a handful of fish through out the day, but
had landed 4 to make up for it. 1 of which was undersized. but the other 3
were 34.5, 38.5, and 41.
so now that last match to be fished is JJ vs. Jeff. we are hoping that will take place the weekend of Nov. 5th& 6th.
as we come to the end of another fishing season, I think this extra addition to our clubs activities is going to get better and better each year.
We had better participation, and a few more fish caught than last year, So I can only look forward to next years season. And hope that we will gain a few more participants. Im guessin that next year we will see Sonnet return to the mix,
Her excuse this year was bear hunting. likely excuse, but we'll let her slide.
Excellent job everyone on getting your matches scheduled and putting some fish in the boat. Once again there were quite a few missed opportunites, plenty of fish on that got off, or guys that were just big wiffers altogether. I wont mention any names tho. They know who they are
