I saw these in the R and H Catalog anybody have any experience with these? I've never heard of them before, but for some reason think these baits would be HOT!

They do look nice, just a bit pricy for a bucktail though......hmmmm I also wonder if there would be any effect to the blades spinning with the head on there.

Like Muskiewhored stated they look awesome and I really like the head concept but for $38 it seems a little high in price for a bucktail.

Would be nice to see how they run in the water!!

Donatos baits are awesome. the head is made out of wood, hand carved. don't own one but seen them at the michigan show and talked with the guy's for awhile and they are very very nice baits. i was going to buy a couple but they ran out of white and a few other colors of flashabou. i would spend the money for 1 of these before i would a dadson or a mayhem hurrican thats for sure. Donatos also have db#8 and #12 with matching size heads. they had video of there baits in action at the show and they are super nice and something different.

Hi,
thanks for the comments, The large walleye head has a 4/0 hook (It doesn't show that on my web picture) Hanging
from the belly. There is also a solid bead that is crimped behind all the heads of every bucktail. The head never impedes the spinning of the blades. I also have two video's on my web site Donatoscustomlures.com, Check out the trailer for a short promo. For the guy's friend that didn't catch a fish, Sorry but I can only speculate that your friend wasn't running them deep enough or not using heavy enough weight. All of my bucktails run higher than most everyone else's. The heads push the water away from the blade a little causing them to rise more. Here is a tip for anyone that bought my lures, 4-80 or 6-60 will get them down. I sell them for a few bucks less if you come over or call me direct. I also have 4 other smaller size available. My lures caught 5 peoples personal best last year, all over 50".
Thanks Again hope this clarified up some questions.

A Double Cowgirl is 23 to 29 bucks, depending on where you buy it. This bait has a hand carved wood head, which has to be considered into the price. I think the pricing is right on. Nobody's getting rich making muskie baits. When you figure out what you make hourly to put out a couple hundred baits, it's pretty sad. You really have to enjoy doing it.

Guys,
Although I have not yet used any Donato's lures myself I can vouch for
their ability to catch fish from reports from close friends of mine that fish LSC. I have been involved in musky lure making myself and I'm now very picky in my new lure selections. After visiting Donato's operation last week I can say that this season I will now be using a few different styles of lures that he produces. Check out his site and you will get an idea of his passion for wood working and his abilities. His site is not some hyped up internet BS to sell sell sell.

Hand carved wood baits, make a few yourself, then decide if you think they are priced too high. They look nice, they are Unique, in a world of cheap ripoffs, I applaud the effort and passion. No doubt they will catch fish.

Hi,
I Just wanted to let everyone know that the heads are made from a two part resin product. Making them out of wood was way to much work and I couldn't keep up with the demand making them part time like most everyone else.
I did carve all the heads then made some molds from those heads. After many hours of testing, should say seasons of testing I feel the molded resin heads are better (very consistent and true). I still on occasion make wood ones, but I charge a fare amount more for them.
They have been tested for the last 10 years on LSC and have caught countless fish.
Thanks for all the positive comments
Have a great Easter.
Donato

I've looked at the video and does seem to run good! I do see the craftmanship and applaud the attention to detail, very nice looking bait and is unique. Its just a bit out of MY budget for a bait, that's all I meant by my comment as far as price. If I was not budgeting right now I would buy the walleye one right now. My problem I can't just buy one I always buy at least 2-3 different colors of baits. I guess that's why my budget sucks. I have a lot of respect for any bait maker, especially muskie baits, so Donato hope you took no offence.

Absolutely did not take offense to anyones post. At almost 17" long and 6.5 OZ. The walleye bucktail is the largest one I sell. I have had a lot of people tell me that the web site doesn't do my lures justice. Please check out my 4 other smaller sized bucktails if you haven't already.
Thanks

I think Donatos bucktails are under priced with the craftsmanship and passion that goes into his baits. I purchased a few baits from Donato last season and did well with them casting. Well worth the price. TEAM CASTING CONNECTION.
