I'm REALLY looking forward to using this bait this season.  I think Larry came up with a real winner.  It's able to skate across the surface of the water in a true walk-the-dog form with the capability of gliding 6-8 ft.!!!  No joke...

It comes in a surface version or a sub-surface version and also comes in two different sizes of each.  I opted for the Model 200 surface version at 7-7/8" in length and a weight of 4oz.  I am dying to get out there and try this one out.

Anyone else pick up one or a few of these...?

Wow...nice looking bait. I'll be excited to hear how guys do with those this year. Question: What hooks are on that? Look different than what's on the plopper.

I agree.... definitely looks different than what is currently on the Plopper. I looked on the back of the packaging and don't see any specifics at all as far as hook type goes.

I will say this. You know those wicked Plasma Point hooks that Musky Innovations uses on their Bulldawgs. They're just like that. I was honestly going to sharpen the hooks this morning but I don't feel there's a need to.

There's a video of it in action here: http://www.river2seausa.com/t/wideglide.html

Yeah I've got a couple, great baits. I remember on Larry's website/message board he said for the big and little wide glides to remove the feathers off the back. He said he didn't want the feathers on the original but the company that manufactured them wanted them or something like that. He said it will do better if feathers are removed. Maybe he will chime in on here.

Awesome Bait!!! I picked up a bunch of both surface and subsurface. I think it's key to have a good sized JerkBait rod so you can work your magic. I'm really impressed with this bait. You can burn it, have it break the surface, work it slow and have it glide really wide. It's built like a tank and casts well. It does take a little getting used to and not the easiest glider to work but give it time and pop it with short fast snaps while giving it slack. I had it gliding out wider than any other glider I've used or seen. This is a fantastic glider and I love it! As Larry says, cut feathers off and use a leader w/o a snap. Use a split ring instead to get maxium glide. I can make it dance on a 7'6" and a 7'0". All the baits Dahlberg has put out this season are top notch quality and impressive! Good job Larry!! Keep it up!!

Thanks for replying, you guys... I really appreciate it.

I've already chopped the feathers off the rear treble hook as recommended. I could really use a shorter dedicated jerkbait rod to add to my existing arsenal, but for now... I'll have to stick with the all-purpose 8'0" Tacke Industries rod that I've been using. Not exactly a dedicated jerkbait rod - but it definitely works for now. I'll hafta save my pennies and start looking around for a decent shorter rod I can use for gliders.

You definetly need to sharpen the hooks on bulldawgs, they are no where near sharp enough.

Sorry... I should have clarified.

I've not had any issues at all with the Plasma Points on the new Pro Dawgs.  I believe they're deadly sharp.  I can't speak on behalf of the regular Bulldawgs or the older strand models, but I know the Pro Dawgs I've not had to do a thing with...

Don, did you use both the large and smaller surface glider?

Also, for those that have used the sub surface glider, how deep do they run on a typical retrieve? Have you tried them in current? Thanks, I'm interested in checking one or more of these out.

You might want to simply change out the rear hook instead of cutting the feathers off...

Hey ...a couple of things about the WIDE GLIDE....first see the new video...just released by Larry Dahlberg...on the effective use and technique. Note he doesn't spend a great deal of time covering the rigging...but this is very important. No HARDWARE on the leader to line connection....ring only or snap only....no swivels.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1W_BhQbDkdo

On the subsurface models the larger one will sink deep...if you give it enough time...about a foot a second. They have been working great for the Bluefin Tuna guys and striper guys all summer long on the east coast. For fishing in current...casting up current...works great for "gliding", but down current....only steals the slack away...so give more slack when you pop. We face this in the surf daily. Last but least....the rod is very important...if too soft....the rod absorbs most of the "pop"...so i agree with the med-heavy suggestion given above. Good Luck1

your correct! them new bulldawg hooks are plain dangerous...very sharp out of the package. i bought a stack of mag dawgs and #*^@ got stock opening them up multiple times. i would like to get some of them hooks in a bigger size for my shack attacks....are you listening andy? lol!!
